  • Just no!!! He's a thug and a ref magnet and for what it's worth I can't stand the prick Please no!!!

    • Ref magnet? Yeah. Thug? Also yeah but i feel we need that in thi squad. We need a prick. Someone who can rustle the cages of the other team.

      • Mmmmmm...Yeh sorry LB I get what you're saying and I'm more than likely being a tad bias as I really don't like him but it's still a no!!! I'd take David Klemmer over NAS any day of the week though I don't think Klemmer would fit either (maybe a few years ago)so NAS has no chance in my opinion

      • Yes Rex, you will learn to love him, just like we have with all the others that have had similar traits.

  • Remember many of us bitching and moaning when JAC was signed? I wonder how that turned out.

    • Things worked out well because he was signed on terms that suited us, there was little to no downside. If a similar situation can be reached with Nelson fine, every player has a price that makes them good value (Randy wrote a blog on who is delivering value in our team which hardly anyone commented on - it was a worthwhile discussion topic). Pezet is obviously not signed on our terms but some are trying to create ways to make it so.

    • I always thought JAC was a good signing and I was pretty stoked when he took his chance and ran with it... literally It was great to see us scoring length of the field trys again It's been a while since that fire was lit I look at NAS with different coloured glasses He has a vibe that just doesn't fit with me and I can't see him wearing blue and gold

  • If NAS wants a future in the game he has to adapt his technique defensively and he probably has to add some lateral agility in the movement stakes. If he stays the same old he won't last long.

The only positive I can see with a signing like this he adds some steal size and mongrel to a team that really needs that type of player in the middle of the park. He'll also come for reasonably cheap because Melbourne have already paid NaS out so I don't think he'll get to cash in with us.

Negatives and this is a big one can this guy go through a season without a suspension and can he stay on the park for any decent amount of time if he can dodge the mentioned. He's never going to give you quality nrl starting minutes but off the bench the potential is there for him to change or maintain momentum in the middle of the park.

  • I commented earlier in the year I believed we'd have a crack at big Nelson he has some attributes we're clearly missing.

The ability to draw defenders , bend the line but above all aggression.

I agree with the big fella Bellamy hasn't used him properly.

You don't start Nelson on the bench he's like a kid with adhd he's sitting on the pine going out of his brain finally gets on and all that pent up energy is released into dumb plays.

His best footy has always been when he starts but it's his second stints that have changed games.

With his propensity for a loose shot ,starting the game where forwards are more inclined to do straight hitups he's less likely to get wrong footed when putting on a shot and he won't have to lower his centre of gravity as much losing his power and technique.

Nelson plays his best football when he's able to sink his teeth into a game early but included heavily in the teams leadership group.

He's been ostracised at the Storm, Bellamy had the shits with him and teammates treated him accordingly you could see the disconnect on the field.

Obviously you wouldn't pay his current contract but with his interest in boxing this is where you pay him unders $500 thousand a year leveraged into some boxing matches sponsored by club affiliates with the opportunity to spar with Junior.
