The Parramatta Eels are pleased to announce that Newcastle Knights forward Jirah Momoisea will join the club from the start of the 2023 NRL season.

Parramatta Eels General Manager of Football Mark O’Neill said, “Jirah is a talented young forward who has a great attitude both on and off the field. We’re looking forward to welcoming him to our Club next season.”

Originally from New Zealand where he captained the esteemed St Paul’s College rugby union team, Jirah moved to Australia in 2017 and made his NRL debut last year in round 23.

  • Never seen him play or even heard of him, any good?

  • Yes I agree, the club should have asked you first lol

  • BA might not win us a prem, but feck me he can develop players... this guy could be our new mau, or papalii...

  • Either a diamond in the rough or a decent squad player. Raps have always been there, just couldn't stay on the field. Wouldn't surprise me if they make him an edge back-rower, has range and movement needed.

  • A great player for helping Brad keep the Eels in the 8

    • He doesn't have KPIs remember...

  • Don't know much about him but we do have a great record of developing these types of players

  • Hmm never heard of him, but hopefully he has a decent preseason with us and can hit the ground running next year.

With leaders such as Paulo, RCG, Matterson there to help him.

  • Aren't these the type of players that should be coming through the system pushing hard for the nrl.  So much for being a development club.  Im all for trying to nab young players with potential but jesh we hardly have anything coming through the grades atm that could excite any fan.

Seems like being a great development club is all talk...

"Yup. Oppositions seem to accept the Eels will be camped on their line for the first 15 minutes. They hold us out. Close at half time, then go wide early the second half and blow us away.
if we can jag a few early tries we are in for a shot.... "

"What I'm saying is it won't be effort but a lack of talent. Manly have so much speed out wide compared to the Eels. Not to mention Olakau'atu will use Sanders as a speed bump. Eels might score 2-3 tries but won't be able to contain Manly out wide. "
