Bulldogs have pulled out of the race for Metcalf and his asking price is around 1 million dollars. Dragons most likely spot but to get him immediately I wonder if this means they will allow Sua to join us early to free up cap space to get Metcalf immediately. Just seems logical

Mitchy, I thought Anderson was being presented as a GM Fotball, not a talent scout?
PS You cannot say that Matt Cameron should have been looked at....that is an Oxymoron and comparable to the we should have recruited the Cleary's before they left Wests to go Panthers!...... Cameron grown lengths has to be up there as one of the all time great hindsight comments of the modern era!
Sorry Pop's but mabe read what I said....and I appreciate it.
Just imagine if BA had a M Cameron to work with all those years back.....
Mitchy, as long as you agree with the premise of my comment, then I doubt we disagree fundamentally about either the role, responsibility and accountability of a GM (whomever they might be), or about immigration and housing, which is voldamort on the site!
Reject scapegoating if we want serious change, this is the way
Daz, I like that comment. It deserves a beer, my shout champ.
Cool, Mitchy. Hazy something or other, cloudier the better
Well Anderson is Head of recruitment. MON is GM. Two different roles.
So shouldn't you be asking who do we prefer out of Anderson and Rogers?
Peter O'Sullivan for me I'm looking at the talent he's managed in conjunction with others to get to Newcastle and the Dolphins at his most recent stops would just about do it for me.
I mean St George tried to get him before he took the Newcastle job.
Totally agree, hes the 1 we should target
A bit of a sliding doors moment, Coryn.
In 2024 the Eels roster was clearly at the end of it's cycle, and needing to adapt - especially with aging forwards.
In 2024, Peter O'Sullivan leaves the Dolphins after building a very talented roster. The Knights & Dragons fight it out for his signature. Both Knights & Dragons weren’t in good positions at the time.
O'Sullivan feels like the exact piece the Eels are missing.
Obviously, he doesnt always get it right, no one can. But on top Brown & re-signing Ponga, Trey Mooney was an brilliant pick up. He has made a huge impact.
Mooney was offered good $$, but that is the key, identifying him as a target worth spending extra on.
Eels fans are obsessed with 'overs', but we really have no idea what 'overs' are, we see 80mins a week of these players, and even then we don't understand all the intricacies.
I know through a friend who was in the NZ team with Dylan Brown, that O'Sullivan did a huge amount of due diligence before offering Brown that deal. There was a lot more to it than on-field performances.
It's that ability to identify the talent, the personalities, and where $$ can be extended that O'Sullivan is the best at, and he's proved it again.
The Knights went for a circuit breaker, and wen’t all in, good on them.
100% agree NOS about the obsession with "overs". This is a team sport with a shared salary cap. DIfferent team strategies will weight cap space across different positions on the field. It also ignores that money is only one incentivising factor (albeit a big one) - many players have signed or stayed for status, mateship, off field career paths, introductions to powerful people, education pathways, a succulant Chinese meal, the list goes on and on.
O'Sullivan seems to have done a great job at roster building at both the Dolphins and now at the Knights.
