Metcalf Dragons bound.

Bulldogs have pulled out of the race for Metcalf and his asking price is around 1 million dollars. Dragons most likely spot but to get him immediately I wonder if this means they will allow Sua to join us early to free up cap space to get Metcalf immediately. Just seems logical

      • Well Anderson is Head of recruitment. MON is GM. Two different roles.

So shouldn't you be asking who do we prefer out of Anderson and Rogers?

        • Peter O'Sullivan for me I'm looking at the talent he's managed in conjunction with others to get to Newcastle and the Dolphins at his most recent stops would just about do it for me.

I mean St George tried to get him before he took the Newcastle job.

    • They've over paid on more than a few.

      • And are 0-9

    • "Dragons have a better recruitment team then us". This comment is going to go down in the 2026 1Eyedeel comments hall of fame.

      • They are 0-9 yeah great recruitment

      • That we have a better recruitment team than anyone at all is not obvious to me.

    • Long term contracts are too risky with props. It's very rare to see a prop at the top of his game year after year. Parra were right to not go the extra year on this occasion. I don't disagree sometimes you have to pay a bit extra to get the deal done though. Parra have saved money on their spine with young player coming through. Now we need to spend saved money elsewhere to add some class eg Sua good start. Herbie Farnworth id throw a million at him which is overs as far as a centre would go but not over as to what he would add to the team

  • Metcalf doing the Ben Hunt lol

  • Metcalf will be 28 when he starts the season next year. 1 mill is way to much he's played 43 games in 5 years. Yes he went well last year until he got injured but the hype around him atm is ridiculous. Even the dogs pulled out of the race once they heard his asking price. He may prove me wrong but i just don't see the hype around him. He didn't have to many others chasing him.

"Yes, good points PG....someone like French has become more of power player based on his speed that he always had and then his filling out. Nikorama falls into that category as well and I am sure there are a number of others some can think up."

"I think you miss the point Adam in that metrics is a result, its identifying the body types and bringing the ones through that are being seen as succesful in this new age. Thats more the point of what the blog is about."

"Yeah good point. It's Halfback tax. Half decent ones garner big money. If you don't have a Halfback a 7.5/10 one gets same as a 9/10 Halfback just by how important the position is. I beg Boyd nearly tripled his salary in his NZ extension basically…"
