Make your own rules.

All this talk of the NRL changing rules and wanting to add this and that. Stuff let us decide what rules we should do.

What are some rules you would love to see the NRL incorporate, they can be serious or dumb ones i do not care this blog is for a laugh.

I'll start with some. Both teams elect a fan of their choice from the crowd to play Hooker. Minimum 40 mins they play.

Hairstyles can be enforced with an automatic fine or suspension.

Refs can award tries at anytime with no explanation. Teams could be on halfway line and a try awarded.

Mascots allowed to go on the field for one play if they make a successful tackle it is a turnover.

For entertainment purposes, a 2nd ball can be thrown into the field of play at any time and is a live ball, good luck.

One free punch or illegal tackle per game.

If a draw after 80mins, coaches come out to the middle and wrestle to the death.

Please excuse me thinking i am funny. What else do you have? Maybe themed rounds might suit too.

  • Gimmee the optional 4 point conversion. Defensive side loses 1 player, attacking side starts from 20 metres out and has one play to score another try. Very similar to the NFL 2 point conversion. Ball is dead if knocked on by attacking side, knocked on by defending side and recovered by defenders, any foul by the attacking team.

If a foul is committed by the defending side such as offside, head high etc. the attacking side gets the option of either a direct kick from in front (which would gift them 2 points) or a second attempt from 20 metres out with the defensive side losing a second player and any further defensive infringements resulting in a 4 point penalty try.

  • Charge downs should not be an automatic 6 again.
If your kick is charged down but you manage to regather it, it's just that tackle again. Not a complete tackle restart.

    • I'm fully behind this. You should get rewarded for a defensive play, not punished because the ball bounces a certain way. And as an attacking side, you shouldn't be rewarded for a poor kick.

  • Play Souths to a draw, then as LB said, let the coaches settle it with a wrestle, Bennett against Ryles.

    • Ryles will snap him like a stick.

      • Exactly, better than watching golden point.

  • 1 forward pass per quarter.

Penalties for unnecessary roughness or taunting

2 minute warning and 3 time outs per half

    • 53 man roster

      Helmets

jeez this sounds familiar, PVL might be onto something.

  • Instead of golden point there should be multi-ball like in pinball. 3 balls fall from a blimp overhead. 1st team to score 2 tries wins

  • The ball cannot be stripped as soon as a second defender gets involved in the tackle in any way.  Loose carry still applies.

Charge downs are a free ball. Attacking team recovers and their tackle could continues (not restarting at first tackle), but if defensive team regathers it's their first tackle.

Three infringements in a row are an automatic differential penalty but a full penalty if the offending team commits the third offense in their own 20
