Luke Burt

Luke Burt sometimes goes under the radar but what a great year he has had and what a great footballer he has turned into. Our club couldn't wish for a better ambassador for the game. Watching him develop over the past few years into one of the best wingers in the game has been a pleasure. So on Sunday when our big names are talked about look at Lukes efforts they will be worth watching.

  • He is brilliant , second only to kenny for tries scored , wait till 2010 when he breaks that record , His name will last forever
  • Very Well Said.

Luke just goes about his work week in week out, and never seems to get the praise he deserves. He has scored or setup some of the best tries we made and his goal kicking has won us many of our games.

I just hope we can keep him at the club for the rest of his career.
  • He just goes out there week by week and does his job and some a great player and extremely underated!!!!
  • The Burt is a very special player indeed. He is a loyal, loyal servant of our club and has given 100% for all his years at Parramatta.

He should be proud to call himself a one club man and I hope he finishes his career with the Eels. He is another one of Parramatta's unsung heroes. I am so pleased he is getting another chance for Premiereship glory this weekend. :-)
  • Burtie is a LEGEND! Quick, Tough, and Confident!
  • I heard last week Burt & Grothe are a chance of leaving the mighty blue & golds, was this just bs?
  • fuckin oath
  • he defenatly is serving us brilliant wazza
  • He has been awesome of late
  • A game to 'remember' for Burt

Grand Final victory means many different things. Endorsements, Clive Churchill Medals, rings, new contracts and perhaps one big party.

But to Eels flyer Luke Burt it will be a way to assuage the pain he felt in 2001, from a game he can’t even remember. It will take away the pain of crippling injuries and cap off what might be one of the most underrated one-club careers in NRL history.

After all, the only man who has scored more points for the blue and gold is legendary centre Mick Cronin.

In his illustrious career, Cronin scored 75 tries, kicked two field goals and booted a remarkable 865 goals. Burt has scored 100 tries and is level for field goals, but lags a long way behind on two pointers with 466.

To put it into perspective, only Andrew Johns and Hazem El Masri have kicked more career goals than Cronin.

So what would victory this Sunday mean to Burt after so many near misses?

“Winning this would erase a lot of hard football memories like injuries and near misses,” Burt explained.

“It would be something to cap off my career, I think. Not that I want to finish on it, I think I’ve got three or four good years left, but to win a Grand Final would feel like a complete NRL career. It would mean the world to me.”
