Seems like a few things are starting to go our way with the Ado Carr negative sample, best and knights dispute and even grabbing Luai for half price for a season. Not used to all these little things going our way lol. Bring on 2027

I guess you could see things as being due to luck. It's good to have choice, to have options available to you, not be in a position of inferiority or desperation. I think we've just made a conscious effort to change our ways from how we conduct business. In the near term there's going to be some pain but in the long run it's going to pay dividends.
I think there is a bit of urgency needed as we need pieces around our best players and Moses isn't going to be around forever. If we aren't in the business of winning now why bother with keeping Moses.Long term is great but if we aren't serious about winning now as above let Moses go to a team that is.
I disagree entirely with the logic of letting Moses go. How does it help the Eels to let their chief organizer go? Moses has the best long kicking game in the NRL, is very fast for a half, and has become a very good defender. What I do not understand is why it isn't obvious that, to use Coryn's words, it is the pieces around Moses that matter?
Examples from 2026 include the Broncos. They had the likes of Haas and Carrigan up front and Staggs and Walsh out the back, but lacked any stability in thre halves and failed. The Cowboys had the likes of Luki and Nanai in their backrow and flyers galore out back like Purdue, Laybutt and Chester, but could not manage the absence of Deardon. The Raiders spent the season building leads they could not sustain because they had an inexperienced spine in Sanders, Strange and Weekes.
So I fail to see the logic in not keeping an experienced, excellent #7 and building the pieces around them. The only thing to manage at that point is the transition plan. See Manly for how not to manage a transition plan. Of course you will also lose some potential future halves, see Eels with Sanders and Talagi.
Knights did ok without star halves . Arguably our best game of the season was in the abcence of Moses . And our worse game of the season was with him . Yeah you could argue his injuries hampered him , injuries which were a result of his somewhat selfish choices to play rep football whilst already not 100% fit .
im not advocating to punt him , but unless his attitude is adjusted I cant see us being any worse off without him considering his salary .
Moses has a shit attitude for a 1.3+ million dollar captain .
That's the thing though how does it help us paying.a guy 1.3-1.4 per for not much it's why I believe we have to get more talent around him if we don't what's the point.
This is a big reason why the teams suffered the last few seasons purely because of the talent around our best player there just isn't enough of it.We lose Brown and Lomax 2 years ago and still haven't replaced that with equivalent talent in 2 key positions. In DBs case we've had at least 6 players have a go and we are changing it out again next year.
If I'm Moses I'm looking at the club and asking WTF is the plan here guys do you have one.
If we are to go the development route just spend the money and use journeyman at the position until we find the right guy.Outside of that with Moses and the same soso talent it's just death by a thousand cuts.
The Knights just made the grand final with a brand new halfback. The Roosters won the comp with a new five-eighth AND a new hooker. The Broncos won last year in Hunt's first year back at the club since 2017. I'm sure it helps, but forming combinations over multiple years just isn't as important as you've been led to believe.
How bout when your constantly changing combinations round the halves weekly monthly yearly if you want consistency which is the key it's not winning football doing the mentioned regularly.
Under pressure it shows up even more so.
Yeah but that's got nothing to do with signing new players. If you bring in a new bloke, even for one year, if he can stay injury free then by the finals he has had 20+ games with the team. The most recent grand final proves it's enough. It doesn't take multiple years to integrate a new player.
Well we've tried 6 different players in the last 2 seasons and we'll be going for another one next year in our case it hasn't worked out. Also in the cases mentioned Brisbane and the Roosters the talent levels are superior to ours which takes pressure off the mentioned guys to perform also.I think especially in the Roosters case they've got better coaching across the board than us which is also another reason why integration of certsin players works for them moreso than us.
That just means that we need better players, which means signing new ones. Our problem isn't new players ruining combinations, it's the lack of talent in the existing squad.
