Luca Moretti extends with the Eels

The Parramatta Eels are pleased to announce that Luca Moretti has extended his contract with the club until 2027, securing his future in blue and gold for the next three years.

The 24-year-old forward is a promising talent in the NRL and the contract extension reinforces his commitment to the club and its pursuit of success in the coming seasons.

"I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to continue my journey with the Eels,” said Moretti.

“It’s been a dream of mine to represent this club, and I’m excited to be part of a team that has such a strong culture and passionate supporters. The club has given me everything I need to develop as a player, and I’m looking forward to getting out there and giving my best this year.”

Mark O’Neill, Parramatta Eels General Manager of Football said, "Luca is a player who has shown immense growth and potential since joining the club.

"This contract extension is a testament to his development and the faith we have in him, and we’re excited to see how he continues to evolve as a player within our squad," added O’Neill.

In 2023, Luca made his NRL debut for the Eels and was named NSW Cup player of the season at the Ken Thornett Medal presentation. He made his representative debut for Italy at the 2021 Rugby League World Cup.

  • Nice, he does fit the type of forward Ryles seems to want. Good player with a lot to give. He came through the COVID years so a lot of those players are late bloomers in their development and Moretti is one. 25 this year so has a lot of years left. Can play on an edge too if desperate.

  • That's a good re-signing he is the new age forward type the club needs and is happy to be an eel and wants to stay it's a  pitty a few others at the club didn't have the same attitude

  • Good news. I think Luca will.be a mainstay in the top 17. Coming off the bench he always brings high energy.  Ryles must really like his attitude towards training to have signed him long term

    • I think he has to force his way into the top 17, he is not there yet!

  • Not bad. Cant fault his effort and intensity, got a lot of improvement to go with it aswell

  • I like this, moretti brings energy and toughness onto the field when he comes on, he seems a bit raw at times but I think you can put that down to trying to cement a spot in the 17. At 24 he is just starting to come into the good age range for a forward,  at the very least he is a good depth signing but I reckon he is a genuine first grader.

  • Has earnt it the hard way so will appreciate the opportunity.

  • Good depth re-signing.

  • This is a good re-signing. He has the right attitude (all effort) and now's it's up to him on how far he can take it.

  • He looks like he has trimmed down?
