According to Weidler,  Josh Addo-Carr has booked himself into a rehabilitation clinic on the Central Coast.

What does this mean?

An admission of guilt?

Well it looks like the club and Josh have come to an arrangement in the admission Josh needs help, and unlike when he was caught previously at the dogs, it seems this time he's gotten on the front foot to try and save his career

    • He should be, but apparently Moses feelings will get hurt.

      • It is not about hurt feelings, but why create added media noise of Moses being removed as captain when you can just have both Moses and Williams.

Be honest Adam, if Moses is removed as captain you think the media just ignore it as a nothing thing?

        • You do it because that's what's best for our club

          • Is having a media storm questioning Moses and is it his personality or do they not trust him or anything like that being brought up in the off-season when the media are looking for something to write and talk about, a good thing for the club and Moses?

Why are people so against co-captains? The greatest club of the modern era, maybe in the history of the game, have co-captains. You can keep Moses as a captain and have Williams with him.

Pretty much saying, though Moses is not a great captain in certain areas, he very well could be in others. Naming Williams just takes away some of the burden with media and talking to ref at times.

        • I'd sell it as,  Moses requested it as he wishes to focus on returning to his pre injury form .  Unfortunately this only works with a retirement from rep footy.

I wonder if the shared captaincy says the exact same thing as him losing captaincy?  At least if he gets out and states he wanted it , there's no media speculation.  Similar to Jim's stepping down from his role ..

I also wonder if having shared captancy takes the desired result out of promoting William's ?  Moses will still be the dominant captain, and he'll still be 90% focused on trying to influence the referees and 10% on influencing the team.

I guess the co captains could work as long as someone had an uncomfortable conversation with Mitch about why williams is being promoted . Mitch is not above self reflection and criticism. His game seems to have regressed since he was made captain. Ego or added responsibility, dunno, but he needs a coach to tell him.

    • Yes! He definitely seems to be made of all the right stuff.

Moses should be told to focus on his form and fitness and Williams should be given the captaincy. We need leaders in leadership roles, not just the best player.

If we really need to cater for Mitches feelings then do the whole co-captain thing again but make sure Williams holds decision rights on the field.

      • As halfback of the team Moses has enough pressure on his shoulders, I don't get the need to be named captain lol. Let Williams look after it or maybe name them co captains.

        • I think everyone is getting lost on the captaincy issue, questions to be addressed are

: what effect will it have on Moses losing the captaincy, it was always something he wanted.

: his judgement in making decisions is pretty good with challengers and those style of things

: He is as the half back going to run the game anyway

: what you expect is a leadership issue that revolves around the captaincy and the decisions that need to be made

: what would Williams or anyone for that matter make decisions/influences that are not really made by Moses regardless.

I think you people react to his temperment issues and arguing with refs etc, take away that power and you weaken the game plan he is running. Williams will not be directing the game, plan! The halfback will!

Sack him from the team if you don't agree with any of those issues, fair enough, you have a replacement in Volkman but you have a 1.3m salary bill for the remainder of Moses contract.

Are you guys sure of what you are doing, the disharmony you see would be transparent to the coaching staff if it was an issue. Another thing the coaching staff will know, is how Moses is respected by his teamates, this soley should be the final dependancy on any decision with his captaincy.

Looks like to me that a lot of the would be's that could be's on this site have little understanding of dynamic effects when you disrail a huge part of the foundation.

Adam thinks it is best for the club, I would like to see how he establishes that with the points raised in this post.

LB made a good point, sacking Moses from the Captaincy would be the lead on every media copy and mention of the side.

PS Some pretty average types have been made captain and it has been accepted as part of their temperment, Cody Walker being one prime, Paul Gallen being another,Ray Price was no angel but the players respected him enormously, Wayne Bennett doesn't believe in dual captains.

We had a bloody good captain in Gutherson, he polarised everyone's opinions to this day. It is subjectively not a popularity quest.....its what's good for the team, not the club as Adam says, you can have Williams as Club captain if you like, but the onfield captain has to be the one best suited to the circumstances on field.

          • What made Gutherson a good captain in your opinion ?

For the record I think he was an ok captain,  but " bloody good " ?   Not a chance.  He did a job.  Like Hindy did.

We still blew many a solid lead , fell to bits often,  couldn't come from behind, lost to teams we should've pounded regularly.  " bloody good captains " run consistently good teams that perform ,  not always win, but perform consistently well.

we have not had a good captain in decades. Ray Price was our last good captain.  Cayless had a coach that mostly kept a tight ship which helped Cayless , so I'll say he was a good captain also but with an astrix.

  • I havnt seen an interview with him. he might be a complete clown off the field  flicking his towel at the others in the shower u don't know
