  • With links that we want Blaize this year to play Centre, going for Howarth and Best, and also Penisini has apparently re-signed, writing is more likely on the wall for Samrani, which is weird as Ryles seemed to have liked him a lot by playing him a lot this year.

  • With how hard we've h web looking for centres can't see him getting a first grade look in at centre in 2028. Also be tough competition in the back row.  Probably be better for him long term if he tries to get a contract with more opportunity

  •  Well the Canberra raiders have just withdrawn their offer for Hudson Young,  and the Roosters have now withdrawn their offer for Sam Walker,  then we have people on here panicking about Samrani being off contract.

    • Saw that , You have to totally respect that flex from the rooters . Thats impressive , and will pay serious dividends for years .  This is why they win comps.  They won't deal with maggots like Moses , and take no shit from greedy players.

In comparison to the Paulo scenario , even the Moses last negotiations ( not the extension )  taking Months and months , which sets the tone for years to come.

      • Is it really a flex or do they know he isn't taking up their offer so are trying to save face by making the first move?, you know, I'm not dumped you are.

        • They did the same with David Fafita

          • Oh and do you honestly think the chooks are concerned about their reputation in this instance? Perhaps a few folk on here should advise them of supply/demand factors and that the cap is increasing as well because they're probably unaware lol.

      • The Walker call that sparked fuming Roosters’ backflip... and why he could leave NOW

The Sydney Roosters have withdrawn their contract offer for Sam Walker beyond 2027.

The 24-year-old had reportedly been keen to restart talks with the NRL premiers after they were paused in August due to a disagreement on his price tag.

According to Code Sports, the gun halfback informed his management that he wanted to remain at the Roosters, requesting a contract be finalised last week prior to his Test debut.

His team met with Tricolours officials on Monday, who were confident Walker’s camp had agreed to their fresh offer — a three-year deal worth $1.2 million per-season, with ratchet clauses that could inflate his salary to $1.4 million.

After mulling over the contract tabled, Walker’s agent reportedly requested a “slight upgrade” according to News Corp, angering supremo Nick Politis.

Politis then made the decision to withdraw the Roosters’ offer immediately.

The Tricolours reportedly also won’t stand in Walker’s way should he wish to depart ahead of the 2027 season, but the club will honour his current deal which runs until the of next year.

In a statement on Monday night, the Roosters confirmed they had withdrawn their contract offer.

“The Sydney Roosters have this evening advised the management of Sam Walker that the Club’s offer for a contract extension beyond the 2027 season has been withdrawn after the parties were unable to reach an agreement on terms,” they said in a statement.

“The Club remains focused on maintaining a Premiership-winning roster, with all recruitment and retention decisions made to support the strength, balance and long-term success of the playing squad.”

Politis is reportedly upset Walker is set to leave the Tricolours club, having previously believed the Queensland and Australian halfback would be a one-club player.

Walker is now set to hit the open market, with the PNG Chiefs shaping as a potential landing spot, armed with a tax-free war chest to poach big-name players.

The Chiefs are on the hunt for a halfback, with Walker, Nathan Cleary and Zane Harrison reportedly headlining their No.7 wish list.

Good on the Rorters here - and I wonder who his manager is?

    • I actually think the Raiders publicly withdrawing their offer for Hudson Young is a favour for him and it would have been carefully negotiated.

PNG can't sign players for unders despite their enormous tax incentives, but if there are no other credible offers on the table then it's an easier path for Young to accept "the only offer" he has which will no doubt be less than Canberra was offering (but will end up with WAY more in his pocket thanks to the tax concessions).

Canberra removing their offer is a huge win for Young and they would know it. It was written in the press statement as a punishment ("we have done all we can"), when in reality it was actually a reward.
