CHT could play the Dylan Walker role going toward and play as a half whenever needed . Great defence and a hard edge about him .

Mon, Ryles and Co aren't going to sign anyone of any value on the footy field. They're quite content with just plodding along very nicely and collecting their pay check and superannuation for retirement in a mansion on the coast. Pezet was the big signing and look how that 'fools Gold' turned out

This is the bed and direction we've made now it's time to see it through.
The alternative is to buy someone in and see Talitaina walk. I feel the club is damned by the fans either way.
Desination clubs somehow manage to keep "elite" junior talent waiting in the wings for longer than we seem to be able to.
I do think we have to get better at this "next man up" or "finishing school" mentality where junior players see that it's worth their while to stick around in our system longer than they do as opposed to jumping ship at the first offer they get elsewhere.
I know we can't win them all, but I do think some other clubs do it better and there's something we could learn.
Agreed. The players need to know what the plans are for them, and why they are set in place like that. They need to know what KPIs they need to hit in order to progress to the next level. This way the guys in lower grades will know that they are not yet ready for NRL, and so should be reluctant to jump ship as that would be detrimental to their development and hence earning power throughout their career.
The ones who do leave are simply after the money, and they are probably not the players we would want to keep. Still a lot of work for the club to get to this stage, but I feel it's critical that we get there, especially as a "development" club.
Great comment Longfin, we don't have to be all things to all people. But we do have to matter to those who we want to stay and I'm sure that's all in the plan.
