Ever since i saw the Ch. 9 news reel with Jai playing with his daughter and then struggling to speak/ slurring his words...I'd layed my anger at everything about our failing club (results- recruitment) aside. Fuck it...what does it even mean? Simply childsplay and we get angry and frustrated when grown men don't do well enough running and kicking a ball. It means nothing at the end of the day.
Gut wrenching stuff. I've seen what Rob Burrow went through and I feel terrible for Jai and his young family.
May God (If there is one) help him and his family.
Souths is a great club and they will support Jai and his family all the way. Wayne Bennett's words were very touching.

In the end it's just footy, just a game, which it's OK to be passionate about, but no so much that we stop identifying with basically the human condition. "Our" players or players from other teams, makes no difference, the human condition can be fragile.
I thought what Bennett said was both deeply caring and also deeply professional. If every coach or manager or administrator had that kind of compassion, there would be way less thoughtless critique of clubs but also way more true care in the game.

It reinforces to me, that you should live life to its fullest whilst you can and enjoy things that are dear to you. You never know when it's about to be taken.
This is a tragic development. I have lost 2 mates to this prick of a disease, As they say by the time noticable symptoms like slurred speech become noticable it is moving at a faster rate. Dare say had this undiagnosed for a while. No words to descibe it. Way too young, young kids, life in front of him. Not fair. Makes you take stock of how we prioritise things. Bennett and Souths have han dled this with pure class, emphathy and demonstrates what having people/man managers as coaches are vital, regardless of what era.
Exactly Parra fan on the Hill. This indeed was a big reality Check. My thoughts and Prayers also with Jai and his Family. He has the support of the whole League fraternity. Fans included.

Gut wrenching is right. No one should have to think about mortality at 30 years old.
It's definitely a good reminder of how insignificant lots of things are. Enjoy every day, we're all here for a limited time only.
I hope Jai and his family can find many beautiful ways to enjoy the immediate future and make a lifetime worth of memories together.
