        • LB  you nailed it as always.  To be a elite level football coach these days is so much about communication , setting standards , having staff that can  deliver your goals, aspirations and intent, having cattle that can do that at a high level of consistency.  I have been lucky enough to be around some great players who went on to being great coaches.  Plenty the reverse way too.   IN todays climate, being a people manager and having the ab ility to communicate between all the  various nuances that come with a top 30 program.

Some are simple assistant coaches and that is the best they get to.  Some can go on from elite NRL players to NRL coachstatus like Ricky Stuart.  Never say never with HAYNES but he needs to surround himself with some exceptional assistants to have any chance of a successful pathway.

          • Well Matty Johns mentioned a story where he was considering taking an NRL job, Bellamy rang him and said don't do it as it will consume you. Only about 30% of the job is actually coaching.

          • Well LB is recently married with a young child, I'm sure he must be slowing down a bit? Don't worry LB that always won't last!

I would never see him as a head coach material PT, just a specialist consultant with results determining where he ends up. What he is doing now with his Academy concept is a good place to start, there is no reason why Parra should not be encouraging the concept......if they haven't I hope it is not because of political correctness by distancing themselves from him.

My guess/say fact is that he is not a great communicator and this really bares judgement on the Parra system at the time when he came through. Poor management and discipline coming through and being treated by all and sundry as a messiah is a failure that sits on this club the same way his irresponsibility ended up ruining his career. I would always be hoping there was access to be part of a process of reform if it was available.

The myopic views of some of our PC greats on here who haven't enough vision to reckon he may just be a brilliant talent scout.....why would he not be able to spot talent and lets face it, we are not too bloody good at the moment in doing so.

  • I am very surprised by the number of posters here suggesting he would make a good coach. Pops may be closer to the mark suggesting that perhaps he has a good eye for skill or talent???

But coaching?? You have all heard him speak, haven't you?? Terrible communicator. Can't string a coherent sentence together. I can't  think of any other superstars of the game who didn't improve their communication skills throughout their careers. Hayne's ability in this area was very poor right the way through his career.

  • This "academy" is whiffy...It only exists on his FB and insta, no prices or dates available.

Does this feel well run and a real chance for youngsters to get a leg up?...or a money spinner for Jarryd  posing as helping youth and "giving back"

    • It's a free trial session on Saturday the 13th of December.

      • Did you contact the email on FB?...it all seems unproffessional and hastily arranged. You just know signing up is gonna cost a bundle

He could have partnered with a reputable org but nah, go it alone on FB. Again, poor communication and planning
