I follow TWO of the worst teams in sport
After going to my WASHINGTON POST to read about my awful Redskin season........
I see this
Apart from feeling sorry for myself (lol), misery about the Redskins and Parra - all together in an American newspaper, it roo much to bare (lol)
It is interesting to see what the Americans have to say about it from THEIR perspective though
Rugby star stuns Australia by spurning sport for NFL bid
Jarryd Hayne is kind of a big deal. The 26-year-old plays in Australia’s National Rugby League, widely regarded as the world’s top outfit of its kind, he has twice been named its best performer, including this year.
Which is why his announcement Wednesday was so shocking: He wants to leave the NRL, and play in the NFL. From a report by the Associated Press:
“Today I can officially announce that I will be heading to the United States to pursue an opportunity to play American football,” Hayne said, adding that he had been considering the move for two years. “I’ll be a free agent. It will give me the opportunity to go over there and train and potentially, hopefully, play NFL one day.”
Renowned for his acceleration, Hayne said he believes he has the skills to make it as either a punt returner or kick returner.
“I believe I have the speed, I’m a quick learner, I feel things out really quickly,” he said. “I have no doubt it’s going to be tough. Ultimately it’s a 12-month plan, going over there and trying to make a train-on team. For me to do that I need to start preparing for that around January or February.” The 2014 NFL season is underway, so he’s aiming for 2015.
To judge from this (rather lengthy) highlight package, it certainly looks like Hayne could have a shot at becoming an NFL-quality kick returner. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound specimen often ran the length of the field in the NRL for tries, eluding, bulldozing or simply running away from defenders.
According to the AP, Hayne has already visited the Seahawks’ training facility, but it’s unclear if he will actually sign with Seattle or make himself available to the highest NFL bidder. Hayne’s Twitter feed indicates that he may also be a fan of the Cowboys.
Hayne is seeking to become the first rugby league player to successfully convert to American football at the highest level. Australian rugby union star Hayden Smith caught on with the Jets for the 2012 season as a project at tight end, but he was subsequently waived. Several Australian Rules Football players have made the jump to the NFL, primarily as punters, such as Darrin Bennett, Ben Graham and Sav Rocca.

Watching those highlights kind of makes you sad.
TBH deep down I wish it was 09 all over again.
I like the reader's comment..... "Judging from Jarryd Hayne's rugby youtube clips, he's probably an NFL RB + special teams destroyer of souls."
Yeah but according to some, he hasn't had discussions with them yet. Mmmmm.
The dude's got skills... no denying that.
The highlight reel is quality but!
Tony Abbott, will be jealous of Jarryd Hayne he is making more world headlines than him!
