Paulo's first stint was ordinary but I thought his second stint was great. He was in everything, often first or second in the kick chase and had a good impact.
I agree, Paulo 100 % improved on his second stint. But we looked alot more intimating overall with Sam and Tuilangi. Still think theres work for Ryles to do to get the mix right.
He got wider in attack, particularly towards Mam side of the field that helped him poke the nose through and make metres. Brisbane were back peddling the whole second half bar one set on our own line where Samrani stayed down and Reynolds went off.
I wasn't able to watch the game unfortunately, but Triple M gave huge wraps for Junior's second stint. He still has the skills we need, just needs to be directed for effectively. If that means limited minutes than so be it.
Tuivaiti to start, and Junior on the bench could be a really easy fix. Honestly, I haven't seen Tui have a bad game yet, give him the start and see how he handles it.
Whatever Ryles does, he quite simply needs to figure out how the Eels can better compete in the first 20 mins. Twice in a row they have not kept up with the pace of the game, conceding too many 6-agains and penalties and the result has been they have had half the possession of their opposition in that first 20 mins.
Fix that defensive issue and give the offense some room to do its thing.
"Yeah Brisbane usually start the season slowly. I would certainly not be writing them off - they haven't even go to second gear. Contrast that with Melbourne, who always start strong, but I believe they have now lost more grand finals that they have…"
"Agree completely with that last Paragraph particularly Coryn.
We were gifted (somehow) the 2 points for last night, but we would have learnt so much more about ourselves and self belief as a result.
Apparently Ryles said that Pezet is still a work…"
"Papalii isn't a 6 . I'd say he's earmarked Lorenzo as the 6 going forward and didn't want him going from his first NRL preseason into 27 rounds of NRL. Papalii is a great utility to have in your squad. I see him more as a Diane Laurie type in that…"

Not to mention not falling off Haas, something that is not easy to do.

Yep Tuivaiti gets through enough work to earn that starting spot.
Keep him where he is, let him grow into the role, he will get his chance, why lose the momentum he brings, same as Walker.
Paulo will offer more as that impact off the bench. I reckon we see it mid year here and there.
