The Hayne Plane

Jarryd Hayne has been sounded out by Fiji Bati, and given an opportunity to play in the upcoming games.

Hypothetically, if he goes alright and proves he's still a decent first grade level player, would you take him at parra?

The most naturally gifted player to ever play the game imo, at 36 I reckon he's still as good a player as Russell, Dunster ect...

Perhaps a spot on the wing a depth? Maybe not first choice but to have around. Jennings did it. If he can get down to his old playing weight and fitness levels I'd do it on minimum wage and I think Hayne would to.

Your thoughts? Of course this is just a thought, nothing too serious as it's off season.

  • 🤦🏼‍♂️

    • Inspiring stuff

      • The proposal didn't warrant an explanation.

        • Wasn't a proposal was just a discussion superstar

          • Oh cool. This is one of the dumbest ideas I've ever heard of. The bloke is 36, severely out of shape, all sorts of personal baggage and an off field PR disaster. 15 years ago when he was an incredible athlete he was also a poor trainer, polarised his teammates and was difficult to coach. Did I mention he is 36 and severely out of shape now?
And for emphasis here's that facepalm emoji which implies everything I just wrote. 🤦🏼‍♂️

            • The context was not necessarily his fitness, it has moved on from that. The initial part of the story (origination) was he was invited to play for Fiji by their coach. Their coach was aknowledging him as an integral part of Rugby League history by  a man that represented that country.

RB has just taken up the next and obvious question, which maybe outlandish for all the reasons said, but the process has now proceeded to a philosophical level that involves something of/about our culture, what sort of a club do we aspire to be and what loyalty we may have to one of our greatest ever players, who whether we like it or not can never be eradicated from our history or our legend.

Hoe wrote a reply post to Cappy which I think explains a lot about that philosophical discussion.

  • Can you imagine the likes of Hooper writing 2 stories a week about any minor shit that happens involving Hayne.

Unfortunately the biggest waste of talent in the history of Rugby league if not professional sport worldwide

    • 2 dally Ms and an nfl debut, wouldn't say a waste, but yea should've done more

    • Id never take Russell - fullstop. The bloke has issues just catching the ball at times. Hardly ever has speed to get into a position to beat his man or catch his man in defence. What he is doing in first grade is a mystery.

  • Id be happy if he was just able to get back into people's good graces and was able to take his rightful position as an Eels old boy / Life member etc, without the dramas.
