Gus getting destroyed by media and fans.

Hard to feel sorry for the bloke when he goes on national tv a few weeks ago denies any interest in a player then signs him a few short weeks later. Media and fans are absolutely crushing his credibility and it's just a bad look for the game when a player takes 500k less to join the club that Gus is the head of. Pressure will firmly be on the bulldogs this season as anything less then a title will lead to a backlash

      • where is our beloved snake

  • I don't think people can argue that Gould doesn't get results.  I definitely would want someone with the kind of pull he has. But I think most people who are annoyed by Gus are annoyed at the system. If he didn't have a high paying media role then I don't think he can cop any criticism.  But the fact he blatantly lies on TV and manipulates the system is what bothers most people.

How can you have Gould come out 2 months ago and publicly say that Galvin shouldn't take the big dollars on offer as it would potentially ruin his career.  Then he comes out and offers a 750k pa contract 2 months later? You can't have a system like that.  Not to mention the public drooling over him and lying that they aren't interested.

  • Stop whinging!. Good on Gus he is a sensational operator and played this perfectly. Everyone of you would give your left nut to have him running the show at Parra. The guy is just too smart for all of the other dummies in the game

  • Gus did what's best for the dogs and that's fair enough  - but what's not acceptable is when he uses his media platform to destabilise other clubs, for instance when he tried to influence Brown to take the Newcastle deal saying he would be crazy not to.   Very soon all the bs that comes out of his mouth will bight him on the arse.

    • Well we lost the hunt to a more able opponent. It's over, let's move on.

It's not a given Galvin will be a good fit at the Doggies

We have some terrific juniors coming thru and the future if managed ably by Ryles could be more rosy than imagined.

      Lets focus on that.

  • Besides Gus's conflict of interest situation with the influence he has in the media my biggest issue is what influence did his high school coach Vella have on Galvin's decision and at what stage did he approach him.

I would have thought as an employee of the Dogs he legally would not be able to speak to Galvin about his contract or offer him an opportunity at the Dogs before the Tigers allow it.

The problem is how do you prove what was said and when it was said

    • Well the NRL have the ability to burst in a seize documents if I'm correct. I'd be looking over emails and phone records if they were serious . But they're not. So we can either sit by like the scared Cuckold of a club that we are , or we can hire someone who's willing to get their hands dirty like other clubs.

We are such a pussy of a club , always getting walked over like a husband with a promiscuous wife.  The clubs just a bigger version of us fans , we are happy for them to treat us with contempt and they're happy for the rest of the NRL to treat them like dopes.  Tell me another club where MON would've survived this long ?

      • You're right Wiz

The NRL don't have the appetite to investigate because they might just open a Pandora's box of corruption throughout the whole league.

The Eels are gutless and would have their own skeletons as well which means we just have to grin and bear it

        • Imagine they did deep dive into this , I have no doubts that players and managers would end up in courts for tax evasion and some administrators could end up in prison. Insider trading would be the hottest topic in the media for months.  I know for a fact that players get tipped off by developers on land they've paid off to be reclassified in exchange for their money to invest. An ex player told me point blank about the many ways certain clubs got it done. Same bloke once was told to buy his mrs a cheap fish and chip shop in town , then the club got all their corporate catering from him at lobster prices even though said club had its own huge bistro 😂

Guys like Politis and Crowe help their players get rich using methods that are not cap compliant , and that's where the cap auditors wet their bed.  They know it happens but they're too scared to do anything about it. Everyone knows it happens and only the clubs with private administration ( or a dictatorship in Roosters case ) can get away with it without fear of whistleblowers.

Canterbury use Metro Petrol ( Dib Family ) or Laundy to get it done. Politis uses his own business or Channel 9 deals. We tried it with old mate from Mac Bank but unfortunately we were too useless to be able to keep our traps shut and the usual suspects behind the scenes caught wind so we like morons dobbed ourselves in.

"No.
Its no use chasing a guy like this you have to find players like this not wait until there something then expect you have a chance to recruit them. This is how you get into cap trouble overpaying to get a guy like this moved."
