It's goodbye orf seezun and hello season proper when the Eels host the Storm tonight, kicking off season 2023.
As has been well covered in the media, both teams have several regular players missing giving some new recruits a chance to step up and prove their worth.
I'm particularly excited about seeing how Hopgood and Doorey perform on the big stage. I also can't wait to see how our spine performs with Hodgson at the helm and his combination with Moses and Brown.
So, who wins and by what margin?

I have, as an NRL fan, flipped flopped on who i actually think will win. Melbourne's record for Round 1 is legendary, yet ours under BA is secretly good also. 7 out of 9 round 1's under BA we have won. Scary to think that the two losses were in 2016 & 2018 were two of our worst years under BA, 2016 was worse due to salary cap drama but that caused a bad year for us.
But it is important to remember to that out of the last 20 or so Premiership winners, around half of them lost their opening match so it is not doom and gloom.
I just want them play well in general and get by until Matto, Lane and backline return.
Hell i'd just go with Eels by 2. MOM Moses.
Very hard game to pick with a lot of changes to both teams. If we have an advantage it'll come through our 8 10 & 13. The Storm also miss Paps as much as we miss Moses.
I see a lot of points in the game and could be a blow-out either way

I'll hate to be Moses & announce he leaving Parra to head to West, then run out at Parra stadium. He will be shot down all game. Our year would be finished before it started.
