Game day blog - Eels vs Storm

Here we go. This game will be a cracker and sees our Eels come up against arguably the form team of the competition.

As well publicised, the Storm are down on troops with a massive amount of their massive cap on the sidelines. There couldn't be a better time to come up against the cheats of 2009 who stole our premiership.

Make no mistake, the gap between the first choice and reserve player's abilities under Bellamy is the smallest in the competition with Bellyache always getting fill in players to focus on their job and do it to the best of their ability.

However, the eels should beat them and make a real statement tonight, particularly after many in the media giving our premiership chances no hope. This should fire up the boys if nothing else.

I can't help but think of both meetings last season with the Storm putting on 94 points against us combined.

We need to get our clunky attack of late, in order tonight. I'd love to see even a resemblance of our early season form tonight and the boys will need to show this to have a chance.

So, who will win and by what margin?

MOM?

  • Eels by 16.

    MOM RCG

    • I hope we beat them by 50 we owe them big time i hope its a dry track for a change it suits our style and the reff and bunker get it right this week and watch those forward passes MOM mitch mosses

  • Parramatta to get on top through the middle which will surprise many, Mitchell Moses to put on a kicking clinic, and Clint Gutherson to do a master class of suppirt play hrough the middle and capitalise on our offloads.

Parramatta defeat Melbourne 28 to 10

MOM will be (3) Mitchell Moses, (2) Clint Gutherson (1) Junior Paulo

  • Just watching the odds tumble on this game, before Hughes withdrew we were $1.67, this morning we were $1.54 and now we've shortened even further to $1.39! the line is out further to +/-  7.5

That's a pretty hefty flow of $ onto the Eels to tighten that much, let's hope the score follows the money

  • The games we are supposed to win - we seem to struggle with. So this game is a 🤷‍♂️ for me. Our past performances against the Storm have been diabolical. I'm thinking Parra by 6🤞

    • Troy actually in 2020 in games we have started favourites (which has been 12 of 14 games) we have only lost twice, once to Manly and last week against the Dragons. We were outsiders against the Chooks when we lost in round 6.

I think it's been a big turnaround this year that we have won the large majority of our games when we are exepected to win, but I agree this was not the case in years gone by..

  • Hopeful of an eels win but not confident. Looking forward to seeing how our forwards measure up - we have to win the battle here. Our sliding defence should be exciting - hope the cover defence is on song. Surely the backs are due to make a statement...eels by 2, RCG MoM.

  • Whichever team runs out today, Blake and Fergo need to tighten up their D.

Just need to be patient and methodical for 80.

  • It don’t matter who in this Storm team, years down the track it will count as either a win or a lost, not who was missing. We need to belt them & take this opportunity with both hands. Just like the year they beat us in the Grandfinal & over the cap, that game is still counted against us in the stats.

  • Cooper Johns better wear shoulder pads.

Hell On Eels replied to Eli Stephens's discussion None of our players should play origin.
"Absolutely Hopgood should play Origin if he's selected. It would be nuts to turn it down. It can only be good for him, his development, career & income. Eventually all that will probably be good for us too. One for all, all for one."

"You know it is not hard to imagine why anyone wants to stay Bup's. I think that is why is is imperative that we get an experienced coach like a Bennett and after that maybe Madge......I'm sure there are some good young aspiring coaches but this club…"

Now unless you are Super we all know the eels management are beyond useless and need to be removed ASAP as they are useless to the club .  Last year the great Parramatta management team gave Dylan Brown one of the most outlandish contracts the game…

"A bit left field, and I know it's very unlikely, but I'd be looking at Billy Slater. Since he has retired, some of the way he speaks is really eye opening. E"
