Galvin was no certainty to succeed

I know most of us are burning about missing out on Galvin.

However (I know I'm just trying to cope with the loss) I was thinking about some of the young can't miss half prospects who fizzled out and it reminded me that there was no guarantee that he was going to work for us.

some of the halves that came to mind that were highly touted and didn't live up to the hype

1. Ash Taylor

2. Brodie Croft

3. Tim Smith

4. Kieren Foran (once he came to us)

5. Chris Sandow

6. Kane Elgy

7. Lachlan Ilias

8. Daniel Mortimer

I'm sure there are more but I'm trying to look at the bright side and hope to death the kid doesn't become the next Joey Johns

      • Lorenzo's 25 individual season is better than anything both Blaize and Ethan produced but I think if you compare their entire Jnr rep careers Ethan edges him out as a prospect with Blaize 3rd.

Blaize started out hot but injuries hampered the back end

Lorenzo started well in Matt's, had a ok 1st year of ball then went crazy this year

        Ethan was consistently good throughout

        • I thought Lorenzo was good last year. Eels as a whole were a better SG ball team this year which allowed Lorenzo to shine even further.

as you say Talagi had injuries at the end of his junior reps career but did skip his second year of SG ball last year and played cup/nrl.

Sanders was a gun throughout so I agree with your rankings. He also stepped up in the grand final match whereas Lorenzo was a bit quieter

  • We have to be patient and get another youngster from the parra ranks to replace a former parra junior.

Galvin hasn't proven anything yet and he won't do much more at the dogs.

  • I honestly don't understand all the hype about Galvin 🤔 He just seems average to me and nothing special. Longi is super compared to Galvin as will be Papalli. His decision to go to the Bulldogs is a wrong choice and he will regret it.

  • You just look at the Blaize situation. I personally was devastated when he signed with the panthers. 8 months down the track Longi who was 2nd fiddle at the panthers ends up a much better result for us. You just never no the same might happen with joash. Another player that couldn't crack the full time in his previous club but definitely has the talent.
He would need a lot of work in defence and probably put a little more size but not to much it hurts his Athletic ability and speed. Then there is Lorenzo talataina who I haven't seen much of bar highlights, he looks and what iv read/heard be a great talent at 5/8, Apparently can defend well for a 5/8.

  • Tbh, the Dogs can have him. He's a disrupting little upstart that hasn't proven a thing and, in my view, will disrupt the Dogs momentum. I think we've dodged a bullet.

Let's grab Sandon Smith whilst our kids develop.

I was so impressed with our performance on Friday, I really think we're heading in the right direction.

    • I agree 1000% BB , Galvin is a little prick who I never wanted at the club .   Friday night was the most enjoyable game in 10 years for me the way the eels played , Longi will end up being one of the best signings the club has ever made .

      • That game was special, for as long as I remember, we'd almost always lose those types of matches.

      • Well said Frankie. That young guy, Longi is planets ahead of Gutho as we know Gutho is on his last legs. I, for one, am not disappointed that Galvin didn't sign with us. We have young talent that JR is seeing more so that the fucking Bush Coach who was only seeing beyond his two useless sons so we have a bright future ahead.

    • Pretty sure Sandon Smith has agreed to terms with the Cowboys.

Knowing MON, we will probably end up with Chad Townsend 🤣

"No.
Its no use chasing a guy like this you have to find players like this not wait until there something then expect you have a chance to recruit them. This is how you get into cap trouble overpaying to get a guy like this moved."
