I find this discussion a bit sad and I do think we are overreacting.
We have seen all the usual suspects come up with their theories and views, but "definatively (as in defining)" I am not sure what the right response should be.
Is there such a thing as the right response? My heading would imply my response is wrong because I am giving it more oxygen.
Saratinos think's he has given his response by saying he is going no where. The club sees this as the answer.
Moses has said he is going nowhere, but we don't know if that's true (that he said it). Rylles has officially not started at the club to my understanding and is feeling his way around the edges. He is not a spokesperson for the club and personally I am respecting this view, and liking him more for taking it. Who knows that he hasn't privately spoken to Moses about his plans.
Experience with social media would suggest you "shut up" and say nothing and this frustrates the journalist's and the pundit's on here. That's my response!
The journalists live for these moments and the rhetoric from everyone on here is you cannot trust them and they are lacking in character. We all have this one right!
If you look at the highlighted areas you will see that these are all the sub headings and you can have any dialogue you want off the back of them to throw more wood on the fire.
The common thread is that we have the normal (implies something other than normal) people on here disrespecting the club and everything to do with it and then the Unicorns trying to defend the situation.
Personally I am of the view that Parra's performances in the past two weeks is very reassuring to any doubters that consider our future is not evolving. I would have doubted us very much, up until seeing those two last games and without getting carried away showing that we are only 3 to 4 players away from being very competitive against anyone. One of those 3 to 4 is not in doubt and even our juniors coming through NSW Cup are finally showing they will be adding depth!
One final worry for this Unicorn is that we have not resolved the R&R situation (MON needs to go) and the club management/ board needs to outline where they see us to avoid the circumstances that have happened this year.....really appalling judgement in the recruitment area with respect to journey men like Harper, who was just not the type of player we needed (not his fault). More thought with regards to speed and athleticism
Let's not panic yet and see what we can do without fcuking up the process we are assuming someone is managing?
PS Everyone seems to have an opinion on "the Cap" but I have this feeling there is money there to be spent but they are too "penny pinching" in paying the price. Typical of accountants in most management experiences I have seen over the years....this mentality needs to be addressed so that we never miss a specific player we want for the sake of 50/100k.

Pops, great shout. Spot on.
If the club reacts in the media every time this arse clown or the rest of the NRL360 circus invent a story, they are showing that:
A) They are reading / listening to what these cockroaches write, instead of doing more productive things with their time.
B) They are so insecure in their own organisation they have to react to obvious fictional pieces.
C) They are encouraging & rewarding these journo's for writing fictional pieces.
D) They are then giving ammo for follow up pieces quoting the Eels reactions, which will gain more clicks = $$ & ensure it continues.
E) They are showing a disconnect with their own halfback by having to react in the media.
Chief summed it up perfectly in the other thread.
The club are not doing any damage by not responding to a journalist who has zero credibility & has proven he has no insider info time & time again, but the fans who continue to click on these stories & give them oxygen, are.
Its time to stop posting these links & giving them exactly what Hooper & co are after.
Great reply and confirms what I was trying to say in a summary sense. Your confirmation is meaningful NOS as people respect you, whereas I just tend to polarise opinions.
Actually Chief's reply on the other blog was impressive and as everyone knows, I usually don't miss him but now he seems to have shaken off his obsession with the "Arthur" family he can make some sense.
Chief used to be a very respected poster, but hopefully his return from the "dark side" will enhance the commentary. Hopefully he has closed down 90% of his aliases and 2 should be enough for even him Lol.
Used to be?? You couldn't helpself without having a dig at Chief or wiz...I agree with your thoughts but do better next time
There both big boys Mick, Chiefy has a sense of humour, you still have not grasped that aspect and I can't see where I had a dig at Wiz...... would you like you like me to alter it to do so, may make you feel more justified.
Leave Chief alone!!!
Don't tell me after all that time you are one of the aliases Analyst, is there nothing sacred left? Actually your tipping of events is similar (bad) so when you have 2 choices, how do you both get it wrong?
Huge signing coming Poppa, hang on to your dentures.
Shit I hope your right Analyst....your a good bloke to, no worries mate.
You are right Poppa, overall there is no right response as even if Moses says it is not true the media will continue the story. Nobody, i repeat nobody knows Moses' thought process other than Moses himself. He is the only one who knows if he wants to stay or not. Followed by perhaps Isaac Moses.
The only reason the Roosters is brought up is due to Tedesco and Roosters always going for big names. That is it, even though there are so many holes in the logic of them wanting Moses. Firstly, their relationship with Isaac Moses is at the point of restraining order. Secondly, Roosters are hell bent extending Sam Walker who will demand big money and is younger, he has another 10 or so years compared to Moses' 5 years. Thirdly, having both would be a nightmare as both are alpha's and would not be able to work week in week out. Both will want to control the team and there will be a power struggle. But nah let's ignore it as Roosters need a 6 so Moses makes sense. As Coryn said, Dylan Brown makes more sense for Roosters.
They don't respond it is seen as more is happening behind the scenes. They respond with a professional response and the media claim they are not telling the truth. Look at when Caryannis said he heard the club, Ryles and Moses are on the same page about his committment and Hooper, unprofessionally, did a choking laugh. So either way, with a response like that from Hooper, whatever the club says now will fall on deaf ears to non-Parramatta people, even some Parra fans will not believe it either for one reason or another. Even if Moses says it, they will still say he is saying it to not distract the team etc.
Only way this can be put to bed, is negotiating with Moses to change the options into a proper 4 year extension.
Good blog Pops. I like it. And brilliant response NOS, also Mick & LB even if I don't agree entirely on all points with you gentlemen, namely I'd prefer less "passivity".
Pops, you could be right: we are "over-reacting" and there is nothing at all to the narrative "Moses is unhappy" (which comes with "our club is sheet" as a key side dish). Or you could be wrong. Or partially right.
These are the bullet points from Hooper, Crawley, Buzz Rothfield, Wielder via NRL 360, Foxsport, DT articles, MMM etc:
The club has not released an official statement. Why'd we release an official statement to squash the Guymer "rumours", quickly to snuff it, but not for the "claims" on Moses which have broader implications for the club? Could it be because the Guymer rumour came from his player manager Anthony Fields (aka the Blue Wiggle as LB pointed out), whilst some of the Moses narrative was sparked by Hooper? Is that a symbolic sign of contempt for Hooper and "not having time" for any of his prattling? Dunno. But, perhaps...
So far, only Jim Sarantinos, who I respect and is passionate about the club and hurts as much as we do when losing, is our club's LONE voice on the matter as he has made some public comments addressing the narrative. Not long after the Barrett interview last Thursday pre-game R23 - where Baz said the club's future is "not my problem" and he was in the dark about Moses - Jim was quoted by The Daily Telegraph (Fatima Kdouh):
So, effectively, it's the "people" Jim has spoken to versus "the players" and people Hooper and co. have spoken to are saying "different things" (assuming some veracity on both ends).
Muttman noted Ryles said Moses will go the Moon first before being released on MMM or something to that effect - which could mean a number of things - including the potental agitation for an early release. But I can't find this quote yet.
Moses obviously has stayed mum on the issue. He's had surgery apparently so he may not be right and may want some R&R time.
Eventually, he'll be asked once he's in front of cameras with a journo - like it or not - it's almost inevitable.
This year or next. Imagine this dragging on in the pre-season and next year? And whenever that time comes, if his response is opaque and deflective - with something like "it's with my manager" or similar - this will take on next level. If you think we're over-reacting now, wait to see what happens in that scenario and the narratives arising from that. This could drag on.
Is he really unhappy or frustrated at our management as claimed? Maybe. Maybe not. Or was Moses blowing off steam and has said something somewhere to someone at one point in time (human-like, like he does on field at times) which has made its way on the grapevine to Hooper and company? I don't know. Maybe, you do gentlemen?
Whatever the case, "doubt" can be a dangerous thing, so too is "hope".
So, too is assuming "poo" can't stick to our fan from narratives and optics that may or may not be true.
To underestimate the power of the media narratives and asumptions is dangerous, regardless of the veracity of their claims. Small fires sparked by a few prattling arsonists can become bigger fires. Untrue claims can lead to very nasty, unforeseen consequences.
Thus, I'd rather "over-react" and err in caution than underestime the consequences. That's just me. If it were me I would more aggressively respond to this narrative with a strongly worded "official statement" at least. Also, sooner rather than later, what's the harm with Moses saying something even if it's for a few minutes? Well, unless he really is "unhappy" and is thinking about/deciding if he will agitate for an early release? Or is seeking to play a game with Isaac for whatever reasons? No-one knows. With new clubs coming on board and SJ retiring, with the likes of Reynolds, Chad and others following in the not too distant future, Moses could become far more costly than a Ponga in the near future, in a few years. That is, in 3-4 years his contract (on POs then) could be unders. We know what's likely next.
It's just my view, the club needs strong leadership to pull the entire club together - now more than ever. And given the Eels' tricky predicament and the task facing Ryles, this is unlikely to help greatly imo. The narrative, true or not - Our General wanting out of a "sheet run club" which could have a chain reaction with the likes of Dylan or Penisini also with POs - is not an endorsement of the ship Ryles wants to sail.
Just my two cents. Could be dead wrong. I hope you gentlemen are completly correct on all counts!
PS: Chief is a good bloke and intelligent Pops. We all know he blames BA for everything (perhaps for now) lol. Mick is a great guy too.
