Enjoy your lemon panthers….

Interesting on fox sports late mail that a shoulder reco isn't the only thing holding blaze talagi  out of the side. Apparently according to Brent read:: "

"I don’t think he is advanced as maybe they thought he would be in terms of his football knowledge and football nous"

Ivan Cleary is saying he just needs to work out their "systems". Reading between the lines I think they're saying talagi isn't as up to scratch as they thought was and needs work - which we all knew here!!

Bwahahahaha panthers - money well spent

  • Blaize is a very raw talent - this article speaks volume about how good he is going to be! This deal was an investment into the future for Penrtih. Give him 12 months studying the game in a good environment and he will be one of the more dangerous 6's in the game.

If he was still here we would all be talking about him taking over at 6 next year with Dyl possibly leaving.

I wish him the best and hope he does succeed. I just hope we hold onto Ryda

    • If he stayed they were promising him fullback, a position we have replaced with Iongi, I know who I would prefer between the two of them.

Blaize is a promising young footballer who runs a very good hole and that's about it. He has limited pace wise and his defence is worse than atrocious. Now Penrith may turn him to a FG player for no other reason than Cleary's (Father & Son) are mentoring him. His offer by his words going to Penrith was opportunity.  That's agreed!

The other aspect was if DB left last year, he was still not going to be our 5/8 given what he has shown.

    • Let's be honest...If Blaize was still here at Parra, he wouldn't be starting here either.

      Iongi is a better fullback.

      Brown is a better 5/8.

Lomax and Penisini are better Centres.

Fox and Simmonson are better wingers.

I think he thought he'd somehow walk into that Penrith side but it's clear he won't. Enjoy reserve grade.

  • Better then both penises together.

    • Lotsa penis chat from you....just saying

  • He aint no lemon. I reckon the main issue is his defence. If he gets that right he will be a gun. That's a big "if", but penrith is probably the best club for him to work on it considering their recent history. He probably plays centre this week if his defence wasnt so bad.

The fact the panthers have only one injury in their backs and have to move a forward (Garner) to the centres in round 1 shows they might have issues with the balance of their cap. If they get anymore injuries and if their juniors arent quite ready (as it seems they arent round 1) they could be in some trouble (in theory). But it's penrith they will probably win it again... hmmmm...

  • Its not that surprising they think Blaize is behind with footy knowledge and footy nouse.

I think that statement shows how inept our coaching structures have been within the Parramatta system. From juniors all the way through to first grade.

Players like Penisni, Russell, Blaize, Asi, Arthur, Cini, Rodwell. All of them either stalled or didnt reach their potential to play regular first grade. Some of that has to be on the coach's and what they were teaching.

Look at Penrith so many of their second stringers can walk into a lot of other NRL teams and be playing  NRL standard very quickly. Their skills, their knowledge, their footy nouse is much more progressed then our juniors coming through.

The amount of tries that Russell and Penisni have thrown away, over  the last 2 years due to poor footy nouse, skill or vision is staggering.

    • Exactly BE this is why we are facing a uphill battle over hauling Riff. There system throughout the grades seems infallible they've taken there time and got it right.I've got no idea what we've been doing behind the scenes or what we have set up to open up such a pipeline of talent that they have that we could dream about.

But from the looks of things when you look at Hopgood and Iongi these guys are FG ready and look like there making an impact from the jump.Looking at who we lost Talagi and Sanders those 2 look like there at least and I could be being kind here a year probably 2 a way from where Hopgood & Iongi are now.

Thats purely because of the system that's set up over there looks like it's lightyears ahead of what we have. They've got 4 premierships on the trot and going for 5 and here we are trying to arrest 40 plus year drought.

Ive echoed this for years BA had no chance here Ryles is pushing shit up hill and he's only just starting. If Parra don't catch up and catch up quick off the field the last mentioned is on another hiding to nothing much like every other coach that's been here the last 25 years.

    • BA had no lower grade structure. He didn't give a fuck about lower grades not till his last two years by then it was too late. Just ask the junior clubs what they thought of him, just don't ask Kellyville Bushrangers.

      • It's not a head coaches job to worry about lower grade structure you really think Ivan Cleary at Riff has anything to do with the setup of there lower grade structure that's on your director of football he's in charge of the people that set that up.

You want to lower talk  grade structure at Riff id be knocking on Matt Cameron's door firstly not a FG HCs door. That's why we are so far behind because I don't know how our pathways are setup for juniors to succeed.Getting numbers through is the easy bit but the quality of those numbers is more important.

I'd suggest we sporadically pull through juniors like Brown and Penisini over the tenure that were something but we are so far off the pace when it comes to numbers and quality. Some how we went from the Brian Smith era which was all about development to the Marianus trench where we've been for the most part ever since.

Gus said it Parra isn't a development club never has been since Smith left.
