An inspired performance from the Parramatta Eels has seen them grind out a win against the Brisbane Broncos at Suncorp Stadium by a scoreline of 25-18.
It had been nearly two seasons since the Eels had managed to win away from Parramatta Stadium, that win was also against Brisbane, in Brisbane with Brad Arthur as coach.
With both teams incredibly committed to the cause in the early stages, it took the Eels 25 minutes to cross. Short interchanges of passing on their right hand side from Joe Paulo, Corey Norman, Ken Edwards and Chris Sandow saw Will Hopoate score his first try in the blue and gold.
A further 10 minutes later and the Eels were in again. Semi Radradra cutting in field and collecting a pass from Willie Tonga. Semi still had 60 metres to go with Barba closing in fast but the flying Fijian was to strong for Barba, pushing the fullback away as he neared the try-line. 10-0 and six minutes until half-time.
Brisbane however hit back through Dale Copley after some vintage lead up work from Justin Hodges. That try took the score to 10-6 at half-time.
An incisive run from Ben Hunt just after half-time took the Broncos ahead 12-10. The Eels though responded in kind. Jarryd Hayne taking the ball at second receiver from a scrum and beating his opposite with acceleration and strength.
Brisbane then managed to cross through Josh McGuire after Ken Sio spilt a cross-field bomb. That try put the score at 18-16 with 15 minutes left.
The Eels remained composed and when given the opportunity, Nathan Peats scurried from dummy-half to score next to the posts. The conversion saw the score at 22-18.
The Broncos were their own worst enemies when Justin Hodges knocked Jarryd Hayne over during a kick-chase, giving the Eels a shot at penalty goal which Sandow made no mistake with.
If the Parramatta faithful still weren't sure if the real Sandow was out there, he decided to take a shot at field, 35 metres out and on the run. The shot never looked like missing. And with that, the Eels walked out of Suncorp 25-18 winners.
They face the Roosters next week who went down 9-8 to the Bulldogs.

I thought Parra was going to fall back into their bad habits and continue to capitulate after half time. I LOVED how they worked hard as a team and played SMART and with GUTS to continue to play on the front foot to successful dig them selves out of a hole they dug for themselves
BEST PARRA TEAM PERFORMANCE in years
Hayne was a real standout tonight (not a surprise) he had some crucial plays defending his goal line that if unsuccessful would have given Broncos amazing field position and repeat sets
One of the hallmarks of great fullback play is to be the last bastion of defense, but not just through tackling. Smart and gutsy plays by Hayne were critical for the win - and for me , this was EASILY Hayne's BEST game, strategically through PREVENTING the Bronco's from gaining momentum - ie securing the fortress and therefore keeping the game from slipping away
Chris Sandow did plenty of good stuff as well
But it's really hard to single out individuals - as the TEAM played so well as unit - all night except for 10mins after half time
i could not belive the crowd sing out Parra i had to look to see where we were playing at i think there where more parramatta fans then the broncos
Yea Paul, i've been here past 3 games at Suncorp. ALWAYS more parra fans. Bloody awesome game though. My dad and I started the cheers with heaps more supporters joining in. Bloody Awesome!!
I want to fight Hodges, I really would like to go toe to toe with him teach the wank stain about sportsmanship.
