Bevan French, the one that got away?

Just been watching some ESL lately and Bevan has got to be my favourite player in that competition, he just lights it up. Still very fast, has developed a great kicking game, even his long kicking game is nice. With Dylan leaving next season and seemingly no big names lining up to replace him, makes me wonder was Bevan the one that got away? I'm not sure of his contract status for next season however at 29 years of age, do you think he'd come back to the NRL, if so would you like to see the Eels have a shot at him?

I know it seems like we have this discussion every couple of years...

  • Bevan plays great in the halves now, can also play 1. For anyone wondering.

  • The one BA let go?

  • Hes dominating a comp that's just a bit above NSW cup.

Beven has had opportunities to return to the NRL but doesn't hasn't and hes stated he doesn't have a desire to play in the NRL again.

At 29 I'd forget about him and invest in someone younger

  • I actually think he would kill it in the NRL still but I think the ship has sailed unfortunately.

    • He is 30 next year, he needed to come back 3 years ago to have a chance.

  • Not really as SL is not near NRL standard. I understand that can be opinion but when you have players that are either older, or cannot get a squad here you know it's lower. How long since we've seen a top player in their prime head to SL.

Some SL players have clauses in their deals that let them leave for NRL.

But good on French who has made a lot of money in SL. But wouldn't call him the one that got away, he could have been a decent player in NRL but not a superstar.

  • Brad Arthur killed Bevens chances of ever making it in the N R L ,was a total disaster on Arthur's watch

    • There was a game on vs the cowboys in Bevans last season with us he got called up to play on the wing Bevan told BA he'd rather play full back in reserve grade then wing in 1st grade this was a few weeks after he took 2 hit ups in a game VS the raiders.

BA may not of developed Bev any further but Beven didn't help himself.

There is a reason why other teams haven't got him back to the NRL hes been doing his thing in the super league and no one has I enticed him back

  • He was playing nrl at a time when wingers were as big as forwards. He got ragdolled over the sideline a few times. It's unfortunate he had BA as coach, because he had no idea how else to use him. A smart coach would have utilised his speed somewhere.

  • You cant be seriously comparing the super league to an NRL game. Guy makes Blazie Talagia look like N Hindmarsh.
