Hi Poppa, are you sure he has to wait till Nov 1? I had the impression that since he has a get out clause stating that if Hughes re-rigns, he is free to look elsewhere, then the minute the Storm made it official that Hughes did re-sign, Pezet was free to negotiate & sign elsewhere from that moment on?
that was my understanding too Hammer.
Thanks for the heads up Hammer, mate you are probably right .
That means that a deal hasn't been done yet....my guess is it is now about money.....but I stress I have no real idea in that repect, other than I hope we pay the 500k x 3 and not higher.
Timing was never a real issue to me, I was more into the logistics of getting him and his value thereon. My views are pretty obvious about not getting him, but like most on here I am happy to accept Ryles judgement as it does appear that he is a project for Ryles.
If he turns out to be a super star, I will be stampeded with reminders for a long time to come. That said I am happy to look a fool if we get the result we all crave. Plenty on here will get as much out of that as they will the superstar aspect LOL.
Most of the views I express have no inside knowledge and I do not pretend otherwise, I just get shitty when the "rawness" of a situation happens like this and then the R&R mob get the blame......my further guess is that if he wants to come to Parra and he is just holding out for money, he probably sees no other attraction in coming.
Raiders is set up for him and whilst they have limited cash, its not a big ask for them to make room.....Ricky Stuart would love his style I imagine. He would get a look at the top 4 and he will have no similar guarantees with us, unless that Ryles relationship is special.
how does raiders fit him in when they struggled to get papali
Pops, you seem to be a popular and entertaining pinata here lol, probably because people don't really know you. You're a good bloke.
Pezet's potential is one thing, future actuality in other systems is another. No-one knows. But a Field-General with a killer kicking game is what Matt Cameron calls "electricity" (e.g. Cleary). LIfe stops without it. You can't even take a sheet without it (pumps fail). And to have potentially two, one rising apprentice and a self-taught master who wished he had a mentor, as a one-two punch would excite plenty of coaches. That's potentially a point of difference few teams have.
I see at least three stumbling blocks to getting Pezet, so I don't rate our chances all that high.
(1) Asking price, higher than value, for his potential and plentiful options which makes it far riskier (2) He wouldn't be seven week-to-week for a few years with us. You'd think that's something the Raiders, Dogs (if they can fit him maybe via a Burton-like offload), Saints (CEO forces Flanno), Knights could offer seven almost immediately. Even the Cows are interested apparantly. (3) Storm-ties. Hughes, Moses, Munster are all 31. But, let's say Munster took up a huge offer and was released on compassionate grounds before 2027, he could be six at the Storm — not us. So, he could go for a loan deal to wait and see what happens. Problematic. His decision is going to give us clues about his mind. We saw what happened to Sanders. The Next Big Thing. He seems to have less currency now than he had with us.
If pezet signs, Lorenzo walks. If Lorenzo is the gun everyone is rating him to be. That will be a shame. Seems to be a lot of ground swell for a guy that's played 18 games. In Jr we trust!
