Cap, I missed the memo where almost 20% is now a 'majority'.
Quote: “Dumb...They completely ignore the FACT that Ryles chose NOT to play Dylan Brown for the MAJORITY of the season."
Isn't the opposite true? Brown played 19 of 24 games. 80%.
Many seem certain a long-term deal was on the table from us. That's unlikely. Pezet has been clear he wants to play halfback. He wasn’t signing up to sit behind Hughes or Moses for four years. His exit clause didn’t appear out of nowhere when Hughes re-signed and several clubs wanted him as their seven, not as a six. The Broncos are a natural fit, and the club knows it. "Of course" to quote Anasta, they may have explored the idea, but the assumption the club had no idea of any of those things is naive with blindspots.
And as for blocking pathways, come on. It’s utterly unrealistic to think Lorenzo, Lincoln, Twidle, or Risati are ready for full-time NRL next season from the get-go. The player most affected is Papali’i who might get impatient waiting for a full-time NRL position as the club develops him further. As for Hawkins, he already slipped down the pecking order to reggies when Ryles picked rookie Papali’i at six ahead of him, long before Pezet entered the conversation.
Its the short nature of the deal because if it goes very well its like whats the point because we back to square one in 2027. The only way this works if if we have a great deal of injury in the halves next year (touch wood) we dont . How do we get NRL time into our pathway players ?
If it goes well the whole squad gains confidence and finals experience, losing Pezet won't take away from that. Whoever steps in just joins the momentum.
I think the way this has come about and the nature of the deal makes this a high risk decision by the club and Ryles.
Way before the end of next season, they're either gonna look like geniuses or total dickheads. I don't think it'll land in between. Only time will tell whether it's hero time or zero time.
No
For those unsure for 2027 watch this if you haven't already.

The kid has it. Just doesn't have the body to cope this year. No doubt at origin or towards the end of the year you will see him debut in 2026. This kid is a 6. Broncos have Pezet for 3 years. Moses contract comes to an end the same time Pezet comes off contract. Who's to say we don't buy him back? Who's to say Broncos won't develop him and at 26 coming into the prime of his career we buy him back for $1.5m? I'm I dreaming? Probs. But imagine.
The eels are still stinging from losing both sanders and Talagi because of Moses brown blocking the halves spot. They are not making that mistake twice it seems
He has really good feet in traffic, but he looks undersize
He looks good but its sg ball. Joash has an amazing highlights package in reserves. I hope they both do well.
Papalii is definitely a better player right now, based on their comparative form in NSW Cup, but he's also two years older than Talataina, who should develop more quickly.
