Dylan Brown open to offers

The SMH is reporting that Dylan Brown's management has circulated an email to rival clubs for an expression of interest in the playmaker.

The five-eighth has a player option in his favour for the 2026 season but is yet to enact it.

The Eels have until round 10 to either convince Brown to activate his option or have him sign a new contract removing the player option clauses.

  • Roosters won't take DB,they are planning for life after Teddy so Ponga will fill that spot - Bulldogs will pass on him as well, the warriors look to be the abvious option and will go all out for his signature.

  • From Fox sports

The Dolphins are reportedly considering entering the race for Parramatta Eels playmaker Dylan Brown after his agent shopped him around to NRL rivals amid his get-out clause.

  • Oh hell no, I'm certain in his 8th year he will live up to his potential...

  • Imagine brown doing this if bellamy was coach or politis was the boss? His bags would be packed asap

    • You mean like how Munster was told to pack his bag's.

  • If money is what's most important to Dyl, fair enough and we should all wish him the best wherever he goes but the Eels need to find players who want to be here first, money second.

I hope he stays because the Eels is where he wants to be.

    • Doesn't exist anymore unfortunately.

No one stays for less if you live in Australia, you can't afford to give up money anymore.

  •

Great to read so many differing opinions, because at the end of the day, we all want what's best for the club, not any single player.

I'm likely very obviously a huge Dylan Brown fan, but, am frustrated by all this like many.

Realistically this is simply a manager doing his job & also likely has the clubs blessings - all parties need to know Dylans worth, which is dictated by what offers he receives, within reason.

I honestly feel this email could work in the clubs favour.

‘Franchise’ players don't jump ship for $$. Franchise players need to be about the franchise

DB was supported through a very stupid act that cost his teammates & fans badly in 2023. He, through his own doing, owes this club, the team, and fans, a lot more than a few seasons.

As Eels fans, I don’t think DB gauging his market worth is the issue, feel the bigger issue is again a player manager of an Eels player, using or in this case allowing through naivety, the media in.

There were better ways DB's manager could have gauged interest other than to send an email to every club, CEO, recruitment officer etc - of course that was going to be leaked.

The media love the Eels and anything remotely negative, so here we are, again.

Our top echelon of players allowing their managers full autonomy to create these media circus's, purposefully or not, needs to end.

Your manager is selling you as a person as much as they are a player, how you are being represented & in turn perceived as a person should be important to the players.

But its not restricted to the Eels either.

Many give credit to the Storm culture, and fair enough, but Munster & his manager dragged his negotiations through the media for the better part of a season, and Munster played at a 3rd grade level at best during this period.

The Eels are a much better team with Dylan Brown.

Dylan on the field was terrific last season, what he achieved while being forced to play 3 or 4 positions amongst one of the worst backlines in the NRL was excellent, simply opinion.

I like many am really excited to see DB this season with this new backline, Mitch back, and with Kelma hopefully staying fit on that edge - they were beginning to create a DB/Lane 2022 style combination.

Which is why I find it hard to understand Dylan Brown wanting to leave now.

So maybe this will be a positive & he will sort this now instead of during the opening 9 rounds? Maybe this causes less disruption, in the long run.

But if not, and if he is wanting out for whatever reason, cut ties now, move on. Club first.

I though don’t personally believe Dylan Brown is going anywhere, and none of this detracts from the positives & excitement that Jason Ryles & Co have built going into this season.

    Bring on round 1

    • Good balanced post. If I had to guess Browns manager is trying to renegotiate Browns contract to his current market value. That's probably not a bad thing because of out of the renegotiations those silly options will hopefully go away.

The email was pretty tactless but since when do player managers care about the thoughts and feelings of fans?
