I am starting to think we have the dumbest supporters on here .... watched they way we  manouvre and undermine any failures.

The relentless criticism and then the undermining of the coach, front office etc indicates some people cannot just understand the current problems.

Players were pretty pathetic today and I honestly think with the injuries and dislocation of being maimed that we will be lucky to win another game this season......Can we fix it, I doubt it, it is not an actual lack of effort it is more a lack of ability.

We have two backs with any pace and real class, both obviously carried injuries, you  all being such determined critics out there realising Moses could not run, or place kick. JAC's ribs are so heavily strapped he had problems breathing. Joash Pappilli tried hard, never dropped a high ball but had no support, Penisini has come back early from injury, Kelly is just a pathetic mess from a once competent player, Volkman was honest and the debut winger also honest. Realistically both Volkman and the new kid are not first graders. You can use players like that in one off's but not as regular first graders. It really was a non existent backline and the length of field tries that were put on us reflects that.

Our forwards I cannot defend them, but I do know that you only need one or two key defensive players out and you are buggered. If your backs cannot carry out defence, then the forwards will always be run ragged.....tell me you understand this?

See  I can defend my team, why cannot you at least attempt to understand our situation. Last year Souths had similar problems, their supporters  stuck with them, we don't have the talent that they have, it will be interesting to see if we keep our new St George players after he watches and see's this result but no we will blame MON for losing him and anyone else that wants to come.

NB Anyone that wants to sack the coach is a non thinking moron, he can only work with what he has and I am sure he is trying as hard as he can to come up with a side to play canterbury next week.....good luck with that one Jason. I don't envy your attempting to make something out of a club like Parra, but we stalwarts will support you.

Final point rather than being perenial pessitmists laced with disloyalty, try coming up with some solution's and commitments to support the coaching staff through this period of "seeming disaster"  without coming with your fantasy solutions.

    • Well said.

    • to call supporters dumb, is probably the dumbest???  Pot Kettle? What about "morons" doesn't that get a guernsey?

      "There is two things here, the older generation of fans cling onto the 80's,"..... is that not allowed?

      Para Time, why do you keep your home page "private"

      PS My Grip is fine......and btw I am disappointed as you are, just not contemplating anything drastic!

  • I'm a big fan of yours Poppa, but that performance cannot be defended. I've been to three games this year and I'm sure others that have been to the same or more will echo my thoughts.. we simply cannot compete in the middle of the field or don't have the mindset to try.

    We try to run around sides every week, it simply doesn't work if you don't put them on the back foot first. In defence we look weak, we get steamrolled and tired trying to stop bigger stronger bodies. Let's not use injuries as an excuse.

    For  mine Rhyles can coach, the board is solid and what we need... recruitment is and has been a long term issue. Defence well there is none.

    • With how badly injured this team is, they need to play near perfect footy just to be in games. Defensively they have to be great and passes have to stick. Today everything went wrong and they got belted basically. Lot of fringe nrl players on the field for us right now

    • No problems Archie. from what I can see you are not calling for drastic measures., just getting up me for the defending the indefensible....I think Michael W was right, we were never going to win today and the type of side Titans are was going to be our worst nightmare.....we had no defence in the backs and they were going to run around us all day. The trouble was we were missing our best defensive back in Russell and carrying our two best players, who should not have played.....Moses can't run. The reality is they have pace through their whole backline......we ae lucky they didn't score 80. When that happens the forwards become useless trying to chase length of the field tries, that's why they were so tired.

      That said Ryles was right when he said there was no "spirit" it happens when you are playing catchup every week.

  • I'm not reading all that, but I don't care who we had missing, getting 52 points against us is never acceptable, especially to a club like the Titans

    • Titan's are a lot better than you may think! Just explains you might have the same problem the team has i.e. not respecting your opponents......they would have come to todays game thinking we were better than they thought......we both know now how wrong you can be.

  • Yes, we are hammered by injuries. But... injuries should not mean we lose the ability to:

    * Catch the ball.

    * Tackle.

    * Still have some energy after 10 mins.

    * Defend at marker.

    * Have some line speed.

    * Kick goals.

    * Hold the middle.

    * Rally, huddle, regroup on the field.

    * Chase a kick.

    * Defend in a line when (if) chasing a kick.

    * Not pass forward.

    * Follow the play in support.

    * Stay onside.

    * Pass to your half back and captain when he screams for it.

    * Play like you even vaguely value the jersey you wear.

    There is no excuse for the above and we're not doing most of it. They should have been booed off the ground today and had shit thrown at them! Maybe then they might respond.

    We've become the footy team equivalent of someone suffering battered wife syndrome... we tolerate mediocrity, we make and find excuses, we think change will happen without changes being made.

    Our recruitment is shit and has been for ages, half our roster is crap, we are unfit, we seem to have zero defensive systems, we are generally inept once in the opposition 20, errors, poor reads, slow, lethargic.

    We have no real identity anymore... are we upbeat, entertainers, a high speed team, offloaders, hard nose defenders, mistake free clinical? What?

    I think the team, the club, the culture... the change, repercussions, consequences have all just become utterly 'meh'.

    Maybe it's just sheer frustration talking I don't know. Injuries mean we are up against it yes, of course, but it is not an excuse for not being able to do ANY of the basics... both on the field and in every aspect of running the club other than financial results.

    • Amen!
