  • His always wanted to come to the eels ever since he wanted a release, it was always the Eels mentioned from the start. Once loss isn't gna make him backflip on the deal😂

    • Surely there are young kids in the Panthers system that can play winger and hooker. These are two areas this team need to address ASAP. Matto and Ofa can be a swap if this is what it takes. Both these forwards provide fck all.

  • Meh , if he has half a brain he'd know that things will be different when our halfback returns. Take Hunt from the Dragons and they'd be lucky to win a NSW cup game.

  • Fuck it he comes he comes if not who cares anymore tbh...

My issue is with the knobs in charge and their unrivalled stupidity - hopefully they don't fall for this shit and extend BA for fear of losing Lomax.......FMD that would be an unprecedented disaster..

  • Cool off periods are no more. Once signed that's it.

The NRL is set to introduce a new rule to give clubs a 10 day window to convince players to backflip when they sign contracts with rival clubs.

The changes to the salary cap and NRL contract laws were sent to clubs during the week according to The Daily Telegraph and will be introduced on November 1.

Under the new structure, offers for players must be lodged with the NRL and if accepted their current club has a chance to change the player’s mind.

      Seems they have reintroduced it.

      • Do you believe the Dragons would release him, allow him to sign for another club and then suddenly say "nah we're going to offer him everything he wants so he stays?"

Theoretically, could the Dragons "offer" him a contract so he can back out of the Eels deal and let him sign elsewhere?

        • It won't happen,  the nrl will make the dragons pay the $850k in 2025 and $875k in 2026 per their original contract,  there is no chance in hell they'll allow a loophole for them to sign him for less. The dragons don't want to pay him that much. That's why they were keen to move him on in the first place.

          • Yeah didn't think so. So according to those rules that you mentioned the Dragons are the only ones who can get him out of the deal?

            • Yeah it seems that way.

At the end of the day if he comes or doesn't its not the biggest issue at the club, the coach is the biggest,  junior development,  recruitment and retention and the captaincy are all issues that urgently need to be addressed before we can expect real success.

"Well said, Michael. I agree. And great blog, Captain.

As a club, we're now at those crossroads in…"
