Maybe at least 1 ex sportsperson, with a business degree as well, would be advantageous. A bit of top level sports experience paired with some brains wouldn't hurt. Not much point being a well governed, risk adverse, profitable organisation if you keep running bottom 4 in all grades except U18s down.
Spot on Badger.
"Our footy teams might be shit but hey, we've got a great-looking balance sheet and we're process-driven."
Agreed that the board should be leading this, and is exactly why they are on the board - to bring positive change to the operations of the club. The club has been distracted with the Kellyville CoE for the last few years, but it's time now to see some real innovation and best practice across the entire club. This is where the board needs to lead. Parramatta can and should be a shining light on best practice within the NRL, and I am hoping this is a start on that journey, which should be the ultimate goal. Success will naturally come from that.
A proper review doesn't have any outcomes in mind, other than to assess the performance of a range to key areas of the club, and to make recommendations based on those findings. If done properly, this should highlight poor performing areas that have been overlooked or just accepted for many years.
A lot of short memories on this site, many, including well thought of posters a few years ago calling for astute business types to be on our board, to circumvent " Steve sharp" types. Now they want more league types. Obviously a balance of both us required. " be careful what you wish for" perhaps
Sage advice Bear!
Typical boards will have 80% "regular board members" - folks who are ex-execs or management consultants who know exactly what it takes to run any organisation. This is the bread and butter of any board and we absolutely cannot lose this cohort nor should we underestimate what they do.
The other 20% will be deep industry types - folks who are there for their extreme depth of knowledge in the field that the organisation operates. For us that should/would be someone who has lived and breathed professional sports, ideally the NRL, at an operational level. That does seem to be an angle we could add.
We can't throw the baby out with the bathwater, very smart to bring that up!
MON should be the first one to go, followed by he's bum buddy Jim! Both need to be in the line at Centrelink! These two clowns couldn't organise a root at the local brothel! Get someone in decent who knows exactly what they are doing
And Ben Rogers, the man who leads negotiations and scouting of players to bring in, gets off from criticism?
He would be the 3rd one to go, cause the recruitment has been terrible, now parramatta have got the halves they need to make 5 other really good signings so we can push for a top 4
No Roger's has been quite front and centre for my criticism . But at the end of the day, if the guys a dope it's not his fault if his boss keeps him in his position. MON , gets the brunt of it the same as a coach wears it for continuing to play a player that's not up to the task.
It would seem you are strong on criticism Wiz.....3rd one to go etc but you don't seem to be coming up with alternatives "fantasy selections aside"
This process needs to be recognised and the problems understood you rightly recognise problems but the process does not get attention, very good at recognising the check out kid, the bookkeeping cop and the invisible Mr Rogers (would not know him if he appeared through the door).
Tell me why you make such reference to MON's acadamia and his work history, everyone on here wants a footballer on the board, does MON qualify as one? i.e. I believe MON needs to exit, just don't get your phobia, he is well exposed...you apparently not?.... Saratinos, really are you going to rip him as a pencil pusher, without even understanding the role and position he is in?
You are a smart man Wiz, one of the best in so many ways, why can't you become a less lovable attribute rather than a lovable non attribute. No wonder you do your own reviews, who wants to criticise the best "shit dumper" in his business....you obviously don't upset staff or people in your shit dumping role, so it must be someone in the company that appreciates you just love "shit" and someone has to do it!
