Cap Management

So many good points raised in this article, I've long said our cap needs to be spread more evenly. Moses is the outlier, I guess there sometimes needs to be an exception for every rule.

      • Coryn I think if I was on a one mil contract and someone on a $ 400 ,000 contract regularly got the man of the match awards and had superior stats consistently it would affect me. Try harder and mentally your game goes backwards. Unnecessary pressure can be a burden

        • No doubt but I mean you could say the same about Ponga though right.Hes hardly lit the world on fire consistently and you can see how constrained the Newcastle roster is as he hasn't performed either.

If anything DBs signing was a conduit to trying to make him stay.I mean legitimately how many million plus $$ players are there in the nrl.Teams have many reasons why they pull the trigger and very few view it like a fan does.

      • Yes Coryn. If things click everyone looks good . If they don't we look for scapegoats. That's how life is.

        • The issue I have for this and you can see it with all these high priced or over paid as some would like to call it is like anything for these guys to see there value a number of things need to happen fo see that value come to fruition.

Its not the Clark Kent addage run to the phone booth put the suit on and save the day that's just not realistic.

A great example is Michael Jordan he spent 8 seasons trying the one man band Superman stuff and the bulls won nothing then realising once they put a actual team round him and a coach with a system then the Jordan's greatness and value blossomed.

  • You're correct Adza, I've been harping on about the same. We do need a more balanced team. Lomax and JAC are a start , we just need to get some strike in a couple of other positions , which will need funds. I can't believe how many people were saying to throw a million + at Galvin a few weeks back . Being relieved of Browns salary will be a huge step in the right direction.

  • Article indicated that Panthers do not have a $1M player.

"Its basically a case of who Roosters let go Shane. Their won't be much choosing.
I think Staggs would be a fine 5/8 but he will never be a half, whereas Smith could easily and seemlessly take over from Moses as well as fitting straight into 5/8. To…"

Poppa replied to Poppa's discussion Ongoing improvements and execution. How about this bloke? on the Edge
"Yes, its a generalisation but I love the idea of our edge forwards scoring long/er tries. Jack Williams has added a dimension we haven't had in "donkey's" years......when you look at Liam Martin and Hudson Young, the current NSW pairings then that…"

"no to Staggs and Smith, I'd be going for Hugo Savala while everyone else is looking at Smith. Level head and can play 7 if Moses is out, good kicking game, can set up outside players and good defense and wouldn't break the bank."
