Cap Management

So many good points raised in this article, I've long said our cap needs to be spread more evenly. Moses is the outlier, I guess there sometimes needs to be an exception for every rule.

                • Gus says this all the time the secret around smart cap management is development.Whats happening at the Dogs is a buying time exercise. He's just spending where the dogs need it which was buy a team pretty much because there pathways haven't been producing.

                  • Coryn, Gus says a lot of crap.  He keeps spruiking development and has been there long enough for players to start debuting.  Meanwhile every week there is a story about another bulldog juniors leaving.  The bulldogs have more bought players than any other team in their starting 13 .  Something like 10 or more debuted elsewhere.  We gave 3 former bulldog juniors their debut in Papalii, Kautoga and Samrani they let go so if they really wanted to be a development club why didn't the bulldogs persist with them.

Ryles has spoken about developing players but if he has to buy as many players as Gus is in 4years time he should be deemed a failure.  Gus has been at dogs for nearly 4 years which means that players who were 15 when he arrived should be close to debuting yet they are all jumping ship as they are not getting a chance as he continues to buy over the top of them.

                    • That's true lol, we just bought 3 of them off them for that reason 😂

                    • It tells me how bad the last regime was really they had zero development.I think there development situation is worse than ours if I'm honest.

How long did it take Riff to get there development pathways into full swing 10 years I mean it's the long game being played here.

Love him or hate him he's one of the smartest in the game he just polarising is all.I bet if he was here and had us humming the thought process would be different.

              • Agree

              • Wiz, this was the direction I hoped this blog would go (instead of 4 pages of sulking about every other club supposedly having unlimited TPA's and poor old parra doesn't - and a few Hock images lol).

I think we are on track with our recruitment and retention, it's an ongoing work in progress. It's a better outcome to miss out on a player than go above our upper limit - period. That's what happened with Brown and with Galvin.

The dogs have salary ranges for segments within their playing group and they have stuck to that. Kudos to them for doing so, it will pay off in the long run.

            • Agree. Our recruitment sucks. Look at the players we have. Some of them will not be chosen in FG by other clubs. MON and his group are responsible for this.
With regards to our lack of TPA's, our front office executives should be doing  some leg work and 'door knocking' to the local business' in the Parramatta and nearby districts. Just wondering why we can't do other clubs are doing.

              • That's illegal what your describing the club has to be hands off and PAs supposedly have to organise these.Clubs are supposed to be cough cough wink wink not involved in that process.

                • Pretty sure they are allowed to introduce potential sponsors and players but aren't allowed to be involved in any of the deal processing.

            • That's ok Hocks still close to getting here😂
