Cap Management

So many good points raised in this article, I've long said our cap needs to be spread more evenly. Moses is the outlier, I guess there sometimes needs to be an exception for every rule.

  • Article fails to mention 3rd party deals so is total BS.

    • Agreed that's the first thing I thought after I red this article.

Its a classic piece telling one side of the story without delving to deep in the murky area not mentioned.

    • It's still very relevant as to how the actual cap is spent.  It probably needs to have an addition to the blueprint saying you also need someone smart and connected at your club.

      • No because it's only ever telling you what's happening above board.Id suggest and I could be very wrong here but on the cap and what you can see it tells you onething but if TPAs are involved it's a very different story.

Its why there was no nrl and clubs having these advantages need to make it known. The clubs hide behind that these TPAs are off the books wanting to make it look like there is no involvement when there clearly is.

The nrl/salary cap is there as a guide you have to adhere to it but as above outside of that it's a free for all which clubs rort and the nrl allow it as seemingly they can't police it.The cap appears to make it think it's a level playing field when it really isn't.

        • And that's unfortunately the game. As someone pointed out the other day , we are in the second biggest city with a huge business hub , if we had the right people involved and ran the place tight , we could do exactly what Canterbury have done.  Canberra are running what 4th ? What your excuse for this ?

          • Intelligent recruitment plan looking farther a field for talent.UK as an example.

Having a specific plan in who they recruit as when I watch the Raiders I see athletes and physicality across the park what are you seeing ?

Exactly right what you mention why Parra haven't got this.Gurr mentioned significant reputational damage does that still exist or is it just about building a consistent winner and then these avenues open up who knows but to compete with the best we either have to have a better plan or join the masses and equal if not better the other nrl clubs.

PS they aren't excuses there answers to queries just because you have an answer doesn't make it an excuse.

            • Well it's not the answer if you don't have proof, until the it's just an opinion / accusation  .

Btw , people have short memories . If you cast your minds back to when Moses was off contract , Gus withdrew when Mitch went over a million bucks and stated he's gone above his value in their eyes.  So whether they are or aren't doing dodgey shit via TPAs , it's obvious they're following this "blueprint " lol, in some way shape or form to an extent. They haven't won anything just yet , and likely won't if this Galvin thing goes south  , but if they do it'll be becaus they aren't blowing their wads paying Prima Donna's with sore toenails huge dollars based on potential or State Of Origin performances.  They're recruiting proven winners and blokes that have bought into their culture.

              • Just as a matter of interest does that mean Moses is a Prima Donna with sore toe nails?

                • moses is a girl and gould was correct in seeing him as over inflated once the million was passed. Not a tough player by any means and will sit out with the slightest niggle. Look at DCE who has missed about 20 games during his whole career.

              • Not really the TPAs which is the grey area allows him to follow the mentioned blueprint.

This is the grey area I mean he can say what he likes because TPAs protect him because he can't be seen to be associated with that is against the rules.

This is the thing if the given PA or club or the nrl prove these extra curricular payments then we get a better idea of whose got what.

Eliminate the grey area and then we see the grass through the trees. But as presented now I don't trust those given formulas at all.

NFL NBA and other pro sports you can to the penny what a players being paid and the mentioned also run to a salary cap why can't they do it in the nrl it's not that hard and it eliminates the grey area.

If players are getting the TPAs just make it known how much and then move on really simple really. Then you'll see how really smart these building formulas are.
