Can we still go all the way?

I still have some faith in this young team.. just not much lol.

This particular game. 5 day turn around after playing in one of the wettest games you could imagine. Then having to play wet again. A wet track is a great leveller (who would have thought the Penrith Warriors game would be that close, are Penrith starting to choke?). We played a spirited team, the V's we're giving it all they had. The game just went against us, a couple of dropped balls where we should have been putting on the pressure, the ridiculous bunker calls etc, were enough with the obvious fatigue and resulting sloppy play to cost us the game. Last year  we would have lost by 20. I think with a dry track and a normal turn around we would have smoked them. (But not Penrith or Melbourne...)

The season as a whole? We’ve got a hooker and 5/8th who are still very inexperienced. A couple of tough games gets to young heads. The talent is there, but not quite the mental toughness yet. There has definitely been some silly passing the last few weeks. Hopefully we can keep that spine for a few more years.

Moses is our weakest link. I think we played better without him for except our last kick options. That’s his only saving grace. He’s got a great boot, but in the opposition’s 20, he seems pretty clueless at creating space unless we’re totally on top anyway. A couple of times he got the ball yesterday near the line yesterday he just ran sideways waiting for someone else to run on the ball. Definitely not the Cronk or JT this team needs to be serious contenders.(Usually when I post about Moses inabilities he puts in a smoker the next game so if we beat Melbourne, thank me later lol)

Can we win the premiership?

Probably not, but not impossible. We may be under training for a bit so we can hit our straps again sweetly as we hit the finals. I think maybe the roosters are rope-a-doping too for a bit.

Storm and Penrith may be peaking too early.

Maybe Fergo and Sivo are playing injured (surely Sivo can’t be run down that easy)

Maybe this loss will make them stop believing they can just coast and still win

But that’s a lot of Maybe’s

  • This team under this coach are no chance mate. The what if's about dry tracks etc are rubbish. Both teams had to play in it. Dragons wanted it more. I don't know why. We had much more to play for but you wouldn't know it. I reckon we won't make the top 4. We still have Storm and Panthers to play. You asked and the answer is a big fat no. We are zero chance of winning this year.

  • Never really rated our chances of winning this year, but was really impressed by the consistency and improvements. But we’re back to mid field with the rest. Only 3 teams can win this year. Melbourne, Easts and Penrith.

  • Its not over until it's over. All teams in the Top 8 have a chance more the Top 4. Based on current form you would have to say a Storm vs Penrith Grand Final but things can change quickly and finals footy is different.

  • Yes we can. We've been below our best but also unlucky enough to play our last 2 games in the worst conditions of games this year. You guys need to understand how much of a leveller that is. Also teams are aiming up against us and playing statistically there best footy as Arthur mentioned in the presser.

It's good we are getting real tests every week and passing a lot of them. We failed slightly last night but we learn and move on.

  • I'm too not bothered about yesterday's results only cause you could see coming for weeks, the main concern from the game last night was the amount of possession in the redzone we had 30 odd compared with Dragons 3 towards the end of the game even though Brown was off his game both Gutho and especially Moses need to ball play and play short instead we saw some ridiculous long passes in terrible conditions. Also, Dragons kicking game was perfect in the first half - kicking early in the set and turning our big boys around. The loss came at good time, we did rack up some wins with a bit of luck and this can mask weaknesses. I want to see the whole thing team throw the kitchen sink at the storm with gang tackling and brutal defense - just make the game a dog fight and send them a statement. The game next week will tells a lot about where we are and it comes at a perfect time. I wont write off our chances just yet but there is sense of predictability creeping in and not being assured in key moments when under pressure something we are familiar with.
