From Danny Wiedler Matt Burtons manager David Riolo asked the Bulldogs for permission to negotiate before Nov 1.  This was granted.

Riolo is trying to get ahead of the pack as there are numerous centres hitting the market come Nov 1.

The figure that has been offered to Matt Burton is as a centre and around the $700K mark.

Are we in the market?  Should we go for Birton as a centre or should we get him as a 5/8?

Thoughts?

  • As a centre Burton would be great, as a 5/8, no. His spiral bombs are almost worth it.

  • Volks luia samoa  combination just electric what chemistry . Moses will need to earn his spot

  • Burton 13, Volk or Blaize into 6

  • I want him as a centre. Even if we had gaps at 5/8 he wouldn't be the type for me to fill it.

    I'd pay 900K + for him as a centre.

  • Can play centre

    Can cover 5/8

Can goal kick for the right money yes

  • Burton at 5/8 for the eels isn't the same as Burton at 5/8 for the dogs.

He hasn't been too effective for the dogs in that role because Galvin isn't a genuine 7, he plays like a running 6 with ball skills, two 6's don't make a 6,7.

Moses is a game managing 7 these days and all the eels need to supplement this is a ball running 6, that's what Burton is as a 6.

I would definitely sign him to play 6 for the eels with the option of moving him to centre if need be, the money we would be paying him to play 6 will be matched by a lot of centres in the next year or two so if he ends up at centre for us we won't necessarily be overpaying him.

  • Burton and blaize r centres

We got volk Moses luai and that kid so yeah I hope they sign

  • I wouldn't touch Burton blaize with halves money

  • I'd be happy to grab him purely because it's an upgrade in talent over what's already there. This team needs more talent in the worst way and you put him next to Luai next year and we could be onto something here but if we don't add more we'll see the same old.

While I don't mind Jordon Samrani he's not an out and out strike centre and if we aren't in the business of upgrading our talent pool the teams screwed.
