The Bulldogs are facing a fine of $100,000 for an unusual salary cap breach.
The NRL issued a breach notice to the club on Thursday which also imposes additional penalties towards next years cap.
Financial documents were leaked to the NRL in respect to a payment made by the Bulldogs club of $180,000 to barrister Julieanne Levick regarding William Hopoate's lawsuit against the Parramatta Eels club.
It appears the bulldogs have underhandedly tried to fund Hopoate's case in hoping the Eels will be forced to pay out his contract for 2016, saving the club buckets when they soon announce the signing of Hopoate.
A NRL spokesman said although what the Bulldogs have done is fair game, they did not lodge it with the NRL as a prepayment, the $180,000 is subject to be added to next years salary cap and a suspended fine of a $100,000 dollars has been issued to the club.
When contacted about the issue, player manager Tyran Smith said he had no comment in relation to the payments made Hopoate's representation.
The Parramatta Eels have also refused to comment on the situation with Brad Arthur admitting he was not aware of it and the best way to respond to it, was on the football field.

Might be a better centre than Flopa
$180,000 and she has not even got to court yet?
She is better at ripping off than Flopa
