The Official Club Announcement

The Parramatta Eels are pleased to announce the signing of experienced NRL outside back Brian Kelly on a two-year deal, securing his services until the end of the 2027 NRL season.

Kelly brings a wealth of experience to Parramatta, having played 190 NRL games across his career. A talented ball-runner, the versatile back adds valuable depth and strike to the Eels’ backline.

Parramatta Eels General Manager of Football Mark O’Neill welcomed Kelly to the club.

“We had an opportunity to strengthen our outside backs which was a positional area of need, and Brian certainly fits that need very well for us.

Jason and the coaching staff are looking forward to working with Brian who adds a greater attacking dimension to our game.

With nearly 200 NRL games to his name, Brian’s experience will be an added benefit the broader squad,” added O’Neill.

Kelly has proudly worn the jerseys of Country NSW, the Prime Minister’s XIII, and the Indigenous All Stars. A proud Aboriginal Bundjalung man, Kelly has also made a meaningful impact beyond football. He has been actively involved in programs that support and mentor Indigenous youth, helping to foster personal growth, cultural pride, and community empowerment.

      • Kelly missed 69 tackles last season v Penisini 41

        Russell missed 38

Not sure what to read into that ...

        • Russel and Penisini didnt have perrera and Campbel either dside of them

    • We saw Russell improve defensively with JAC next to him, lets see if JAC has the same impact before judging

  • Good signing with decent mileage left, happy with that

  • Yeah happy with this signing.

I have always liked Kelly, even when he was at the sea eagles.

Has plenty of errors on him but has a lot of ability. Ryles just has to unlock that potential so we can fully realize that potential.

Just might be another great signing.

    • Agree Tank.

JAC will be great for Kelly.

      Well done Parra!

  • His defense sucks, and if he can't sort it out he will just go to reserve grade and serve as depth.

having Jack Williams and JAC on his edge rather then AKP & Fifita would also help him on the defensive end

    • I'm not going to blame Brian for his defence too much whilst he was on the Gold Coast, defensively that team sucked and he wasn't the only one defending poorly, to me that had more to do with the coaching. He needed a new team, we needed some outside back depth. His job will be to put pressure on Russell and Penisini, Kelly would still want to play NRL and in particular I could see him putting pressure on Sean Russell.

FYI - You're saying Fifita and AKP both helped Kelly 😂 AKP is worse than Sloan as a defender, he needs serious help... good thing he's young enough to maybe sort his bad habits, hopefully Wahs help him there. Also David Fifita would have to be one of the laziest defenders I've seen, he doesn't look motivated, doesn't cover from marker well, and often jersey grabs... for a bloke with his strength, he uses it very poorly. I'd say Kelly was stressed as fuck defending next to them... Fifita is a star, AKP is one of the fastest in the game, Kelly was the boring easy scapegoat.

Seriously go watch AKP and Fifita defend and then tell me Kelly is the worst defender out of that lot. Myth.

      • Read it again, I said Williams and JAC will be more help the what he had at the Titans

    • FFS, give the guy a chance....some miserable merkins on here !!
