Lomax hires lawyers against Parramatta

Zac Lomax has reportedly engaged a lawyer in an attempt to secure an unconditional release from the Parramatta Eels so he can join the Melbourne Storm.

It’s believed his legal team will argue that the situation is unfair and that their client now simply wants to play rugby league — despite the fact that only weeks ago he indicated he didn’t want to play at all. Chasing money often comes with consequences.

It’s unclear which lawyer he has approached, but you can expect plenty complaints and noise to follow.

For mine Lomax fought against the Parramatta club in a bid to get out of the contract he chose to sign. This left the Eels in a no win situation, as  if we had forced Lomax to play against his will, that usually doesn't end well.  But Lomax left the club in a predicament, with more cap dollars with minimal recruitment opportunities available in his position.  We were banking on him to fulfil his 4 year deal.

We made the commitment,  he broke the commitment.   Either we get a like for like player from the Storm or its no deal Eddie.

  • Same bloke who represented Folau against Rugby Aust ... apparently

    • How'd that go?

      • Undisclosed settlement ...so win/win?

  • This would open a massive can of worms if it got up. There would be no point in even offering multi-year deals as they could be broken at any time.

Maybe Lomax should spend some time sacking his manager - clearly he has no clue at all.

  • This latest development would give further weight to the argument that Zac left on bad terms. If he wanted to come back why would he not come back to the Eels. To have the audacity to now hire a lawyer shows he is not a man you want by your side.

Hold you ground Parra, make Lomax regret his stupid uneducated choices.

    • Archie, you are seeing it from one side. Not saying ain't true but you said if he wants to come back why not Parra. Who is to say we want him back either? Maybe he did want to and we said all good?

      It goes both ways.

      • That's why we're going to struggle because shit like this.

        • What?

  • "Argue the situation is unfair." It's unfair he signed a contract and is being held to it?

  • Yep fuck him. Hold our ground, take it to court make him spend a fortune on lawyers.
