  • Ryles did mention a smokey for 5/8 spot a few weeks ago so maybe watch this space while the finals play out and November 1 comes around.  Sometimes it is about a club ensuring they can sign a replacement before letting a player leave who is under contract.

I have heard from someone who has very close connections to various clubs that a mystery Sydney club and not the rumoured Saints or Bulldogs like usual rumours may be after Ponga.

Parra have the coin and although he has failed at 5/8 he didn't have support of someone like Moses.  Ponga likes the left side and would likely slot in well with the right team around him and without feeling the need to over play his hand.

His attitude could be an issue but it is also why many clubs aren't considering him so his value is down and Newcastle want him gone willing to pay some freight if they get signatures they are after.

    • That's an intersesting thought. A very risky investment however because of injury issues and whether or not he's any good at 5/8.

    • Taking some creative license with this. Promoting players who might not be there right now but trying to predict things is never an exact science so im just backing in our juniors under JRs leadership to blossom.

I would like to see a couple gun signings, Jake Averillo makes a lot of sense and Aublix Tawha for versatility.

I am also hoping Volkman finally arrives after some finals experience in NSW cup and a full pre season, he is a better half than Joash. Averillo would be next in line for the 6# jersey if Volkman doesn't work out.

  • That's not a bad lineup at all. Our forward stocks look promising, especially with some of the good juniors coming through. I'm starting to think that we might not even sign a big name forward. It dosen't seem to be Ryles' style and if the current squad continue to improve as they have this year, then I don't think we need one.
