I'm going to move into "broken record" mode for just a few minutes - indulge me.
Our R&R has underperformed since well before our football side was underperforming with BA. Then came the time for something to be done and BA was the sacrificial lamb. All the surrounding coaching staff went along with him.
And yet our GM of Football was spared.
Since then we have publicly bungled multiple R&R issues and we see teams with their spines currently having our ex-juniours as first pick whilst we incubate the Broncos future Number 7 in our Number 6 jersey for a single season.
The standard you walk by is the standard you accept.
We are currently accepting failure. BA was successful for a short period of time in spite of R&R, not because of it. I am not sure whether Ryles will have the same ability. If we don't arm Ryles with a successful R&R strategist and executor then we are failing him, the team, and the fans.
If not now...then when. The best time to make this change was several years ago, the second best time is today.
I joked before about MON but he has made some alright signings. When he first started he made the right signings. Here is a host of signings that complimented Arthur from 2019-22.

He has had some good signings. Issue is getting those players that aren't looking for a chance, he needs to convince big names to join.

Then maybe you'd have to look at recruiting ball speed prop like Spencer Lenui, have Sam tuivati start and have spencer next to him you'd create havoc. Than get Moretti, doorey or Hopgood of the bench with the same go forward and paulo to ball play with walker to also create more go forward for moses to isolate players. Tago and Spencer would be perfect for us, people can talk bad about Tago but remember that guy has showed up to big games when it matters he defended his ass of against us in the GF. We need a winger that can eat meters and i'd go for Sabb. Recruitment should be easy but 3 targets for me would be Tago, Spencer and Sabb. We can make it happen, we neeed to really dial up in our recruitment. Three weapons next to Moses and some young guns could really give the comp a shake up.

Dodged a bullet there. The last thing we need is to spend 800k for 3-4 years on an ageing forward.
Mind you, we are never going to get an instant Premiership without a sombrero. Those who think otherwise are fooling themselves. The reality is that we need to build excellence from the ground up, using our juniors. Once we start winning consistently we will attract the star players.
That's a shame. I wasn't really sold on him due to his age unless he was replacing Junior or Hopgood for a year or 2 max but then this came up on my feed and he was smashing Nathan Brown.
It was when he was young but even when Brown played for us I thought he was a dickhead so good to see someone put 1 on his chin.
