Yeah I see your differences. I actually don't think there is any grudge with Lane now, and I wish him all the best. They found a way to get him to move on and the club's players "under his mental health position" and his business can flourish. A huge win for all parties, and very well played by all.
Yeah i think many here, including myself, could see Lane was finished. He did not look interested at all. When BA was sacked was more likely the final nail. The coach that got him to play the best footy of his career was gone. Plus 2023 injuries knocked him around from the broken jaw then the torn hamstring to the dislocated elbow all in one year.
I think Ryles gave him the hard truths and that is where Lane said "Now is the time".
You are right, he didn't have anywhere else to go. Ryles will use him how he wants to, if that is as a back-up then so be it. What a nice back-up to have.
Oh there is a chance he is gone by mid year, a club could lose a back or two and need experience and try to get him. No guarentees he is in 17 when i thought he would be but i was wrong as Ryles prefers Russell it seems. But GC one was odd, they hosted him with Hasler still there but the belief he is already gone for 2026. So bringing him in for a tour without a coach for 2026.
The off season will show if he is 'into the club' or not; and he will have to work his back into the top team. Hope he can prove me wrong as what was reported did not seem good. Russell will be one centre and if Penisini aims up he will take the other spot; JAC and possibly Lomax and the kids coming up as extras
The club can live without Lomax. Wing is covered with Simonsson and Russell.
What ever is left of Lomax money needs to be for a quality centre. IMO we have the worst centre pairing in the competition. Both lack speed, size and passing ability. Combine that with average backrowers, unfortunately it's not a premiership contender side.
Yes Zip Zip, why we arnt talking more about the worst centre pairing in the NRL is beyond me. They are certainly not a top 8 / finals footy pairing at this stage.
They can but there aren't too many yardage and high ball threats like Lomax so there best be a better replacement than a combo of Garrick and Simonsson because Lomax shits all over those 2.
"The bulldogs are letting him go because they screwed up by signing 2 x 6s. Pezet brings a skill set that we already have in Moses. We are almost doing exactly what the bulldogs did in signing 2 x7s. What Burton brings to Parra is balance. Having a…"
"They should be taking now, media even saying that is a priority. His next deal will take him to 2030. Question is money, ideally before he plays Origin. Could be around $800k mark."
"Well that's good news, but it would wrong for the club to jump in a sign him up on a very long contract. That's what desperate clubs do, and it means they get locked in on a player regardless of how he performs in future seasons. I would much rather…"

He's joined the Roger Fabri Speed Academy as well...
Could we be seeing a break out year from Simonsson?
