Josh Addo-Carr cleared in roadside test before Eels meeting

Parramatta winger Josh Addo-Carr’s second result from a roadside drugs test has come back negative, just hours before he is scheduled to front the Eels board about his future.

Addo-Carr allegedly tested positive to cocaine at a random police roadside test in September. However, police on Monday informed him that the second test result provided a result for no drugs, meaning there will be no further action from police.

The development comes amid speculation that Addo-Carr was poised to be sacked at Parramatta headquarters tonight, where he is scheduled to address Eels directors.

With players poised to return to pre-season training, the Eels were keen the matter to a head. To that end, Addo-Carr has been to provide his version of events. Now, it appears that a career that appeared over could resume with the blue and golds.

The premiership-winning winger is a popular member of the club on and off the field. Addo-Carr has scored 27 tries since joining Parramatta last year.

Addo-Carr is expected to be accompanied by lawyer Elias Tabchouri and agent Marcel Tartak when he fronts directors this afternoon. The former Storm star was sacked after providing a positive roadside test while employed at Canterbury over a separate incident.

If Addo-Carr had been guilty of a second incident, it would have resulted in an automatic 12-game suspension.

Addo-Carr, who lost a sponsorship deal with automotive firm JAC, spent about a month in a rehabilitation centre to deal with off-field issues.

The Eels were already making contingency plans. They had been in discussions with Melbourne centre Jack Howarth, but have opted to abandon those negotiations. They have also been linked to Penrith’s Blaize Talagi, but if there is to be any pursuit it will be for 2028 due to his Achilles injury.

Newcastle winger James Schiller is a potential signing for 2027, while Bradman Best and Jack Bostock have been linked to the Eels for the following year.

    • Nope. The b sample must come back positive to support the A sample.

If the B sample is negative the case is always thrown out

       He'll get zero games banned

      • The legal case is thrown out yes but the nrl and Parramatta can still punish him. Iongi got in trouble from a photo of him smoking something from years ago. Nrl is all about the 'image'.

        • Why would Parra ban him over unfair treatment of the NSW police in that case he had probably never had coke in his system that night at all for what the B sample says.

    • Eels95 he is not guilty of anything at this point in time....for you to make such a statement makes you one of the biggests "dills" in a long line of "dills on this site"......look up the word "empathy" and then consider what this poor bastard and his family and friends have gone through, in the past few months......if anyone needs to be suspended its the dopes in our justice system that put people through such an exercise.....i.e. produce the "B" sample result within 2 weeks or drop all charges..

Justice has a meaning......don't forget no one was injured or killed making this episode. If he was driving dangerously or injuring anyone, it becomes a different case.

      • You don't know shit. It depends on what he's divulged to the club as part of his rehab visit circumstances. The nrl or club certainly can do as they wish with suspensions. As long as he's now rightfully paid his salary .

        • Well that certainly makes sense, wasn't sure what hole you were going to crawl out of!.....can you crawl back in now?

    • Now with this Negative test, things play in JAC's favour, he can milk its mum.......stress leave incoming.

    • He has been charged with nothing, therefore he doesn't come under the bracket of any wrong doing at all. No proof he had any cocaine at all that night or the nights before.

i doubt the NRL or Parra have any grounds to suspend him. At most he might get a fine. But if he was to be suspended by the NRL, RLPA i reckon would have a field day.

    • For what? A false positive?

  • Well this changes everything, should be no real punishment attached to it. Id still sign Schiller for depth purposes but
