Josh Addo-Carr cleared in roadside test before Eels meeting

Parramatta winger Josh Addo-Carr’s second result from a roadside drugs test has come back negative, just hours before he is scheduled to front the Eels board about his future.

Addo-Carr allegedly tested positive to cocaine at a random police roadside test in September. However, police on Monday informed him that the second test result provided a result for no drugs, meaning there will be no further action from police.

The development comes amid speculation that Addo-Carr was poised to be sacked at Parramatta headquarters tonight, where he is scheduled to address Eels directors.

With players poised to return to pre-season training, the Eels were keen the matter to a head. To that end, Addo-Carr has been to provide his version of events. Now, it appears that a career that appeared over could resume with the blue and golds.

The premiership-winning winger is a popular member of the club on and off the field. Addo-Carr has scored 27 tries since joining Parramatta last year.

Addo-Carr is expected to be accompanied by lawyer Elias Tabchouri and agent Marcel Tartak when he fronts directors this afternoon. The former Storm star was sacked after providing a positive roadside test while employed at Canterbury over a separate incident.

If Addo-Carr had been guilty of a second incident, it would have resulted in an automatic 12-game suspension.

Addo-Carr, who lost a sponsorship deal with automotive firm JAC, spent about a month in a rehabilitation centre to deal with off-field issues.

The Eels were already making contingency plans. They had been in discussions with Melbourne centre Jack Howarth, but have opted to abandon those negotiations. They have also been linked to Penrith’s Blaize Talagi, but if there is to be any pursuit it will be for 2028 due to his Achilles injury.

Newcastle winger James Schiller is a potential signing for 2027, while Bradman Best and Jack Bostock have been linked to the Eels for the following year.

    • But what would the fine be for?

actually the sponsor who dropped him first day afterwards maybe ought to have kept their powder dry too.

    • Why would they fine him anything, what has he done wrong other than admit himself into rehab, did not the Parramatta club issue a statement saying they were concerned about his welfare and as such see that he has the best medicine?

So you are saying that after admitting himself for rehab that involved everything that has gone wrong in his life, Parra will fine him 25k for being responsible to admit himself?

Hello!!......wait for a minute I looked up Make Parra Great Again and looked for his occupation.....Influencer to the Stars!

      • How is he going to explain the rehabilitation visit?    This could make or break it

Hold on isn't his self admission to a rehabilitation centre an admission of guilt.  How is he going to explain that one genius??

        • Did you read any of the 25 posts I made on that Dora, you do realise that you could admit yourself into rehab now Chiefy as we talk and guess what you would be admitting to nothing in regard to guilt, just your stupidity!!!

          • Mate, I've read your posts and half of your statements are absolutely ridiculous

            • can you guys just hug and make up already lol. you guys are always fighting.

              • We're actually great mates. Just like a good debate.   So far its Chiefy. 10. Ploppa nil

                • OK here come the "big guns" ready for the decisive input .....buddy/mate.

                  • The Logic: On the flip side, supporters point out that if he hadn't gone to rehab, the public would have hammered him for showing zero accountability or remorse while awaiting the final result.
                  • The Mental Health Reality: Going to rehab isn't just about a single drug test. Given JAC went through an incredibly stressful period—losing his car sponsorship and facing the end of his NRL career after his previous exit from the Bulldogs—checking in to get his mind and life right was a responsible step, regardless of what the lab results eventually showed.
Legally and officially, JAC has been cleared of any wrongdoing by the police. However, the court of public opinion on social media is rarely dictated by legal technicalities, leaving fans to read between the lines of his rehab stay.

Well Chiefy you haven't understood anything I have said.....now do you at least understand the logic of what I have said?
                  • Whatever the public opinion is means nothing when Josh faced the Parramatta board.  Either they see him as giving honest answers or answers in which they suggest Josh is trying to deceive them.

That's what counts.   Sure his lawyer would have done most of the talking but Addo-Carr would have needed to explain himself  his explanation will dictate what happens,  not some bs on social opinion

                    • "decisive" them.....do you mean decipher but that doesn't make sense either?
