I’ve seen enough of Apa Twidle — this kid is the real deal. Not just a solid NRL player in the making, he’s got genuine elite potential. Today proved it again. Two quality tries on the wing, then shifts to fullback and somehow lifts another level. More intent in his runs, tougher in defence, and constantly popping up in the right spots to create chances. He looked right at home straight up in front of a capacity crowd. His energy and enthusiasm lifted the side to what should have been victory.
Apa must be the fullback for the foreseeable future. Absolutely no doubt Ryles must go with him.
Meanwhile, Joash just didn’t take his opportunity. When the team needed metres, he looked hesitant, almost drifting into the line, and his defensive positioning wasn’t up to standard.
Twidle and Sam Tuivaiti are easily two of the best development players we’ve got. Sam’s off-contract window is coming up and you can guarantee rival clubs are already circling. If we lose either of them, it’s an absolute failure — fans would have every right to be filthy.
Araz Nanva also put his hand up in Cup. Strong carries, good presence — looks ready to push for a centre spot as early as next week.
Simple reality: lock up Sam long-term (2029), secure Twidle and Nanva, and stop messing around. As for Joash, give him a crack at six next week, but I’m not convinced he’s the long-term answer. Right now, he looks more like depth.

Chiefy that's not how we do things around here.
Don't rush to sign them instead let's wait and see. Then let's get into a bidding war against 16 other clubs and eventually lose these obvious talents. That's the MON way. That's the Eels way.
And that is exactly one of the main things that totally pisses me off about our recruitment and signing strategies!
Any blind man can see we can't sign a big name we have no choice but to pay up for our youngins before they get offers.
and pulease no one say they love the club they'll stay! No! every player has to look for their best offers, which they will get with offers from others coz we are so damn slow in signing up the keepers! It's infuriating!
Sam and Ryley were out and out keepers from their second appearances.
Yes exactly
Calm down chief your putting alot of pressure and unrealistic expectation on this kid.
Parra's issue here is coming out of yardage now Simonsson is gone whose leading the charge I swear that's a boat anchor this teams had the last however long and we haven't bothered to fix it.
Lomax gave us a reprieve of 5 minutes now we are back down the toilet again.
PS Twidle is no where near Tedesco no where near him.
It's great to see the young players turning up to play. With our injury ward and some old heads not up to scratch, we'll certainly need these guys.
Yer agree time to stop playing around Nanva ,Twidle,Brown just start playing them we can't wait any longer cause the club can't sign anyone that's for sure
Someone that has been watching twiddle since 2023 when we won SG ball. I compared him to Tedesco that year but please ease on the kid. His good is great and his bad will make you think we have another Pezet. He is still finding consistency in his game. His defence and high ball defusal at fullback is barely nsw cup level at times
Keep him on the wing to get him into nrl, that's a lot of pressure lol. Great debut but
I will say I am very happy for him though. He was apart of the SG ball team that had Sanders, MA, Tuivita and Talagi. They won the comp and he was the best player in the team in my opinion. So happy he got to make his debut albeit much after the others.
Just quietly that 2023 sg ball team has now produced 6 NRL players in Talagi, MA, Sanders, Guymer, Twiddle, Tuivita. Good chance that number increase if Richie makes his debut. Plus got the likes of Alamadine, De Stradis, Lynn, Vaevela, Pryke in nsw/qld cup
I don't see Richie ever debuting. Nanva is ahead of him.
