  • Distressing news. Is MON the final guy that these players & managers speak to before making their decisions to joint the Eels or not. With MON's very poor batting average of getting the players Parra wants, I reckon he really need to go.

    • We're not even asking for like 10 quality signings every season like the Dogs always get. All we want is like 1 or 2 high quality signings and they MON still can't even manage that. Hands down I dont think there is a more worse general manager than him. Now they gave up looking for 6 and just want to play Joash who is 5 foot 5 and has barely played five eight. I wonder what Mitchell Moses thinks about that as his halves partner.

    • I said it last week, the only way there will be change with MON is Ryles saying to the higher ups he needs someone bigger, they are not going to make the change themselves. The bloke looked at the Wests job in 2023, not like he is loyal himself.

Issue though is do you trust Beach and the likes to hire the right one?

Woolies manager didn't work what about Coles?

Want to make a splash I would respect them going from Matt Cameron or someone like that to just spear head the footy department with Ryles. Issue also on top of that is the longer this goes the less time a new GM would have to do anything for 2026 and with Perth able to start getting players less will be on the market.

Ryles shouldn't have to, it's not his job nor should he worry but he needs to rattle the cages to get someone better, surely he is not just accepting this and saying oh well. BA even had these issues, Aaron Schoupp and Harley Smith-Shields we couldn't even get over the line.

  • I don't think he would want to play half a game each week and share with Smith so I never thought he would come here in the first place

    • If he was to share with Smith why go for him in first place? I think at first that might happen then in 2026 it is Da Silva's role.

  • He is going to Manly as the starting hooker is his. If he came here he can wait his turn behind Ryley Smith who busts his arse for us every single week. If we go with Lussick on the bench you watch how Smiths attacking  game will improve

    • Then why go for Da Silva if Smith is real deal. I have no issue with Smith, but Ryles going for Da Silva shows he wants an upgrade.

If Ryles said to Da Silva we want you but you will sit behind Smith, I would say why waste your time and money just go forward with Smith.

  • Why would Da Silva come to the Eels over the Sea Eagles when he walks into the starting hooker role at Brookvale? He is leaving the Tigers to become a starter.

    • So Ryles wanted Da Silva as a back-up?

  • Honestly who cares... Manly paying $650K for 3 and a half years for a hooker thats done less than nothing. Money not well spent and we shouldnt entertain someone worse than Smith who would be on double what he gets, shows that the players can come in and demand top dollar while the ones here grinding away to improve the clubs position get put to the side... He isnt a 80min hooker.

"Only tiny difference is we must of offered less years. I reckon we match Manly for years and close to money with Da Silva. Garner was probably offered 3 years by Saints and we only offer two that one i am ok with funnily enough. But still a miss…"
