There is also an element of how the news of potential signings affects the team. Imagine being in the team and hearing there is a vacancy for a position you play. Then you hear the club is going hard for someone else, then they miss out and it turns into a 'oh, you're here. You'll do... for now'

Seraph that's the thing. It's not that we will more likely miss Da Silva, it's the fact we are missing players a lot. We have chased 3 Hookers and haven't gotten one of them.
LB we'll end up with someone who isnt sought after. It will be a quiet thing that just gets announced, like Walker and DeBelin (if that eventuates). Anything mentioned in the media you can pretty much write off as it not happening
At least Walker has worked out, a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. I mean we did well with Iongi, Walker, Kautoga, Fox etc. Some were risks and some needed opportunity but we also need to be able to get those others seek to take that next step.

Iongi and Walker I can say have been amazing signings. JAC, I dont know. He's a great pick up but I reckon his situation had more to do with him signing than the clubs effort to attract him and Kautoga I dont know enough of his playing history to say either way
Walker i doubt would have had many suitors. That was simply he wanted back to Sydney and we felt we could use him, leading to just a perfect match and it has worked that can happen. Iongi, you would have to believe other clubs wanted him surely.
JAC nobody really wanted, he went to us with Ryles connection and we were in Sydney. He has worked but would he have come to us off-contract as oppose to being sacked by a club?
Moneyball signings, they worked earlier on in MON's tenure, we got some good deals with Lane, RCG, Papali'i, Opacic etc. But now we rely on it too much.
But surely Sarantinos, Ryles, the board etc. are looking at missing Galvin and Da Silva and working out what is the issue, i mean it is possible we aren't but surely not.
I pretty much agree with everything youve said. With the exception of the org looking into things. JR for sure would be questioning it.
The others, I dont believe as self aware enough to realise there is a problem.
Cant imagine how hard/frustrating it would be to be in JRs position with those imbeciles handicapping him every step of the way
I think they would know there is a problem, issue is they wont be able to 1) realise it is them or 2) work out what the actual problem is altogether.
I am a broken record but Ryles needs to say i cannot do what you hired me to do with what we have currently in our recruitment. Hire a GM and even another football brain, have them work with Ryles. Give him a chance.
I am all for going out and just giving the coach more control as they either sink or swim. As oppose to sacking them and saying what if.
