A new and stable era starts now.

So we are three quarters through this season and no 50 point drubbings...yet.

We have been reasonably consistent as a team this year and have been in most of our games.

SANDOW IS NOW GONE.

This I believe is the REAL starting point of our team being a solid and consistent force in the NRL.

If BA likes one thing it is consistency in effort. Sandow that aint!

You can tell by the recruitment BA has made that he wants a tough and consistent team with Foran and Scott etc.

Chris Sandow has never been and will never be a week in, week out consistent performer. He is simply the opposite of what BA wants in a player and represents.

I'm not saying Kelly and Seffa are the answer obviously but better days are definitely ahead now that Chris has packed his bags. The training paddock will be more intense and no bullshit too.

We were never going to win a comp with Sandow in the team. As brilliant as he was in attack at times, the defensive liability was there for all to see and take advantage of - which most teams did.

With our new recruits and a very solid spine next year, I believe fantastic times are ahead for the eel.

This off field drama re salary cap and payments has been there for awhile. It was always going to come out. The question is the timing? Interesting indeed but it is the beginning of getting our shite together off the field and learning lessons and it is CERTAINLY the beginning of FINALLY getting our shite together on the field.

In yet another day of doom and gloom and negative eels front page stories, there is a LOT to be excited about.

GO PARRA!!!

  • I agree grunta ba has set a solid foundation and with the players coming in and with those going I think ba will have a tough side like Brian smith did in the late 90's that is competitive every week and challenging for finals.
Let's just hope we don't start on negative points next year !
  • When Russell Crowe came in & started to turn Souths around he put in place people that were going to get the job done. I feel he tried to be involved a little to much in the Jason Taylor years but someone must of tapped him on the shoulder & placed him back in his box. The best thing Crowe did was listen. When Piggins was punted by the members he also decided to move on & let them run the club. Success followed!!

The Broncos found life without Bennett hard. They always had the cattle to do well, but something was missing. This year he come back, took over & everyone stepped back & let Bennett do what he does best. At the Knights, he just didn't have it. Broncos are now leading the comp!!

Gould demanded it things had to change, his five year plan has had with mixed results, but if you look at the picture you can see, he heading in the right direction.

So back to our rubble. This club needs to find these moles that are constantly bring the club down, they're there to bring the club to its knees. Past board members that constantly tarnish & rubbish the club just so they can derail our club & push there own agendas. Fitzgerald & co, all past members need to let this club move forward, this job going to take longer then two terms in office & like Crowe & Piggins did for the good of the club, our past admin need to do the same.
    • Really well put Tim.

The fighting factions of previous years will always remain in the shadows, quick to put a knife in the back of the eels as soon as it looks like the club is bordering on successful.

Hate, spite and most of all jealousy being the key factors.

The only way which the club can possibly attempt to turn this scenario around is to hire good people, all on the same page which is ensuring the club is a success both on and off the field and with no hidden agendas.

I honestly believe the Foran contract drama was a slap in the face for Sharpe and co but I am glad they have (hopefully) learned. DA has a role to play and it seems doing it pretty well, letting BA recruit and run the team.

All the current staff bleed blue and gold which is the first time in a long time, possibly ever? This has to be a good thing.

BTW I live on the North Coast and had heard of payments made to both Sandow AND Hayne.

I can't believe this is only surfacing now?

All clubs do it but when you have a recent history of hiring idiots to run the asylum with many and hidden agendas who are no longer at the club, it was always going to end badly.

It's done, there will be more to come in the coming days but it will be over.

Sandow's gone which was an on going problem and destabiliser since he signed with us.

      Good and stable times ahead.

  • We will have a 40-50 point drubbing this week without Sandow
    • Really?
You think Sandow's defence would have helped stop a 50 point loss?
    • No, but with all our injuries this week, combined with the form of the Cowboys + being an away game... It will be hard to not get flogged. If we win, or even make it close it will be nothing short of a miracle.
  • All we need now is for the independent review (not the sham that the current board is trying to arrange) to recommend sweeping changes to the way the Board is governed and the constitution of the board, improvements to the way the football club operates, etc.

Hopefully once implemented, the new board and administrators will take the club to where it belongs: at the pinnacle of the NRL.

    • I hadn't thought of the review in a positive light but you are right BKTAG, whatever the outcome, it surely can then be buried and improvements as you have mentioned come to the fore for the future

  • Yes it will be stable now...last, last, last. But people here are so used to losing they accept it.

We had a chance for a fresh start by signing a new coach but instead they signed Arthurs with no qualifications or experience who has proved in the last 18 months he doesn't have the slightest clue how to coach.

    • S C A,

I think you are being a bit harsh on evaluating BA's performance.

This is his second year and we are currently sitting 11th. Taking into account no Hayne, the Sandow debacle, the growing injury list. I think we are travlling OK . Last year we just missed the top 8 on F/A. I believe we should have made the top 8 because 4 losss from the last 5 games  was major let down. and BA would have learn't alot from that experience.

As per previous comments, there have been no major blowouts this year and a majority of our losses we were competitive up to half time but lost concentration for short periods in the scond half. If we would have won just 3 of our close losses (Warriors, Rabbits Cowboys)we would be right in the top 8.

So on these stats alone I think BA has done a good job. Can he improve, definitely but I think he is the right man for the coaching job at the Eels. He is passionate which is what we neeed and the players have played off the back of that.
