2nd Ashes Test Match - Lords.

After day 1 resulting in a wash out, it was great to see a full day of cricket on day 2.

The Poms all out for 258 after some great redemption inspired bowling from Hazlewood and our most potent weapon, Lyon.

Warner out again in single figures to his boss, Broad.

The remaining 3 days should be fantastic as long as the weather holds up.

  • We win this game, which is very possible, we are in the box seat to win the Ashes series.

    How good would that be!?

  • The Poms must be quaking in their boots with our bowling depth. They all know that if any of the bowlers does not take wickets he will be replaced by another potent bowler. Fancy having Starc bringing out the drinks for 2 games in a row - that says it all really.

We do need to get the top order firing though, that's certainly a weakness.

          • Smith will adjust accordingly. I read that years ago he was getting stuck and struggled to score with how they were bowling to him, so he adjusted his batting technique while he was out in the middle and it worked. That's why he has an awkward looking batting technique, but it works. Bradman did the same thing during the Bodyline series.

              • The analysis I've seen indicates he has a weakness early in his innings on a 5th/6th stump line. But the bowler has to stay there for a prolonged period and coax him into the shot. Then again he could decide to do what Tendulkar did in one innings and just not play into the covers to avoid the tactic. I guarantee Smith will be more patient than the English bowlers because the longer he bats the more nervous the English will get.

                • As one Pommie journo observed "he has shown frailties in the 140's"

                  • Lol.

  • A line outside off stump is generally Plan A for any batsman that comes to the crease. Sounds like they've gone through the alphabet and are back at Plan A.

    • His record says otherwise

      • His record says he's a flat track bully. I think he averages 60 at home and 35 away.

        • Maybe so, but his 35 is still better than any other openers we've got, and his 35 moves the game forward in a way no other batsmen can, not even Steve Smith.
