I was born into an eels supporting family so I supported the eels from birth before I even knew who they were. My earliest memories are of the 1986 grand final when I was 8.
Got some footy cards and liked the jersey better than the Panthers (if only I still had those cards).
Sad thing is that when I asked my mum for a jersey for my birthday she got me an eastern suburbs one and said it wouldn't show up the dirt as much. Wasn't happy Jan.
I started in about 1957 & played with Ray & his brother Mick also Phill Jelley at Dundas valley been through the bad times and the good times but cannot see the end to the current problem
about 79-80 when i was about 6 yrs old, everyone at primary school was talking about them so i fell into it. I grew more passionate as time went on, hence dressing up my dolls and making pom poms for the gfs in the 80s.
My dad would never let me put streamers on the aerial though- i have never forgiven him for it!!!!
I think around 1977, I was seven, school fete, had all sorts of footy stuff to buy, even had parra cupcakes lol.
I liked yellow, and blue, it was that simple.
Best early memory wasn't till I was 11, watching Newtown Jets vs Parra in the Grand Final with my old man who supported the Jets.
Once the Jets left the conp so did my Dads love if football.
I was born in 1987 so have never had the pleasure of seeing my mighty team win a GF, only to come close a couple of times and come up short, once to cheating scum!!!, My first thing I ever owned of the Eels was like a mini gym bag with the logo on the front and back, and I think it was because of that bag that I started supporting Parra, I have no Idea where it came from but I wish I still had it
"Well if you offered Jenkins $500-600k, he would consider it of course as it is more than he would get Most places.
but Penrith probably were able to get closer, that would've been enough to stay."
"He regards wilson as the reserve grader, which he is, and Jenkins as looking good at the panthers, both true. It's the fact we can't even sign players he considers as not worth worrying about is the reason we are worried. "
Besides pride and bragging rights, the R.S. Cup is at Stake.
Both met at Parramatta once in a blue moon. Twice in a decade. This is one to frame.
Both are struggling. One win separates them. The Raiders have won two of their last five. The Eels…
