I went and saw the Eels train this afternoon. A fairly small fan- base turnout. But should expect that on a weekday.I enjoyed the experience.
I was a surprised at the amount of touch football that was included in the session. I believe that too much touch encourages errors to appear in game day matches. This might explain the errors in the Eels games in the last few weeks? I say surprised because BA spent time down at Melbourne under Bellamy. If there is a team that minimises errors it is the Storm. I don`t think they train at touch football but train for their moves over and over again until they are picture perfect.
I did not see Will Hoppa train. He was on the sideline getting some extensive exercise on his injured shoulder! I think there is a doubt about him being fit for Saturday. If he and Kenny Edwards are out I would say Saturday will be wipe out. I saw Mau dressed to train but he did not train. He sat on the sideline looking fit and frightening. He had no plaster cast on his arm. He was intensely interested in the NRL squad as it went about its routine.
Darcy Lussick trained a little in the defence role but soon came off blowing a little. He is a big bloke who should impress more than he does in games.
A squad of blokes came onto the stadium field later on. They were dressed mainly in white singlets. I don`t know who they were--maybe
Wenty players in the NSW Cup? They trained as a group. I thought they looked better than the NRL squad! They were better organised, better drilled and their ball movement was superior to my eyes.Less dropped ball than the NRL unit. And there were some big blokes among them! Still it was only training not a match.
Crissy Sandow is like a wicketkepper in cricket--every ball affects him. He hardly ever stops running. Very impressive display.
Semi trained well and stayed late catching bombs. I noticed BA kicking bombs a few times--he was better at it than Norman who also kicked a few bombs. Who was the standout performer? Is the Pope a Catholic?

That was the Under 20's they had the game against each other about mid-way through the training session.
Thanks Rob and Ham
Was Kenny there?
Both Kennys were there. Ken Sio was playing right wing and Ken Edwards was playing second-rower on the left mainly but did drop off a few times. Edwards was another big talker, making a few jokes and calling out.
Thanks for your heads up.
The team playing touch. A sign they are prepared to rectify their for/against?
Sorry to hear Gem, keep your chin up mate, if you ever just want a chat just shoot me a PM, you arnt alone, cheers
All the best Gem, hopefully his tweet gave you a lift. Gower seems like a great team man and has added plenty to this side. The good news is i'm pretty sure he has decided to stick around for a couple more years.
Yes Gem, get yourself well and you can go and see David Gower in real life. He is an excellent player who trains well. He sounds like he is an excellent human being also. Regards.
Hi Gem, I'm very sorry u experience depression mate. I know it probably sounds rather trite, but just try to keep going & get continuous help. The black dog unfortunately seems to becoming part of our modern lifestyle. I really wish u the best for the future.
